On the login screen click the backwards arrow then uncheck "Remember Account"?
It was already like that, and I clicked/unclicked to be sure. It's also like that on my normal SC2 client, so I'm not sure what the issue is for certain. On a related note, does anyone else here use an authenticator?
Dont call the maps shit! Dessert Strike and Co. is shit, stupidly up there and everyone just plays it on and on because its there and its playable without waitingtime.
i usually hate the most casual mainstream things, but first page will always represent the mainstream kiddis! page 1 is not that much better than page 3or4!
I got an invite too. Pretty cool stuff. Updating one of my maps for it. I am rather confused as to why the editor has the lighting as all pink in my map but I'll figure out how to fix that.
Just like onetwo, unlisted video, if they ask me it shall be removed.
Incase you missed my hours long stream on sunday, I'll be making a series of the new features ;o
Can you dinamicaly modify lighting by using triggers? That would be quite interesting for my Populous Map. Looking forward to the open beta test, any idea when will it start?

According to what people said before in this thread, it more or less is open. While only some people got an invite, everyone seems to be able to log in. You jsut need a DL link.
Not sure how much control triggers have over lighting (Havent been able to DL the client yet due to my internet provider being about 2 weeks late with my connection >.> ), but they added "lighting actors" or something like that, so even if there aren't any trigger actions for lighting you can just use triggers to set up the actors.
That's an easy trap to fall into as an author, but the maps that are up there didn't get there by accident.
I've watched a lot of maps rise and fall. Getting to page 1 isn't easy, but it is doable (reliably so) if you understand the factors that go into it, and are willing to put in the work to bring those things together in one place.
In no particular order:
Fun
Novelty
Accessibility
Polish
Promotion
Replayability
The maps that are up there may not be the best games ever made, but they do hit most or all of those points above.
I re-installed and restarted my computer, as well as deleted and re-instated swathes of Blizzard related registry keys, all to no avail. Anyone else have any ideas?
I do agree that GETTING to page 1 is feasible and depends on the factors you listed. Hell, we did it and we did it faster than anyone else :).
But STAYING on page 1 is a different story. You must consider that 90% of the page 1 maps have been there for two years. When you get to page 1, you are displacing another map. If that map is more entrenched and you do not steal its players...well you know.
Therefore, the page 1 maps DO NOT necessarily represent the cream of the crop. A more dynamic list like open lobbies would help alleviate this.
Well the trouble is that you need more replay value to stay there than you do to get there. Team/PvP maps have a huge advantage here for obvious reasons.
People will play a new map and "consume" its content, then return to their replay value staples.
I think a single player/content consumption map *could* be competitive in this sense if it properly leveraged completionist(#) players, but it's hard to say if that would be enough to actually stay on the front page until somebody tries it .
(#) Grind achievements are bad and people who design them should feel bad, but I know plenty of people who play RPGs multiple times to see all the endings and genuinely have fun doing it. You can get a LOT of mileage out of repeating content with minor variations. I'd be curious to see how many replays Tower Defense Tycoon will get out of people trying to unlock all the alternate endings :)

I do.
If you're able to connect, I guess that's not my issue.

Now that'd be a sweet map.

It will be possible to change the lighting for a specific player via triggers.

Can someone please answer just ONE question...will maps edited with the beta version become incompatible when 1.5 goes live?
@Chiquihuite: Go
That is not entirely accurate!

Depends on how similar the beta and live versions are. That's not something that any of us can really answer at this point.
@Chiquihuite: Go
Rage TD is so polished.....god....it shines like a star.
@Khalanil1: Go
Good to know. In that case I'll play it safe and just perfect the arcade related content which is easy to copy over.
Agreed.

Probably not. I remember beta maps had to be updated for retail version because several formats changed, like t3height and t3terrain
What the hell man, i got the invite, downloaded the shizzle and get an error during installation...
Hive keeper v.12 is published on the arcade servers ;)
