Hi there. I was just curious if alot of you SC2 rpg players just play through Battle.net?
It seems like nobody ever joins the games.
Are there any specific chat channels that you find other players in?
Is there some other method of organizing games? Forums or anything?
All I know is the current Battle.net SC2 custom map system kinda stinks. I can't believe how quickly old maps can be and are forgotten. At least in SC1 and War3 I can load up an Old map and good chance a few people would join.
I wish you could show maps that had people waiting in the map lobby.
Chat channels are the way to go I guess. It sucks, but you probably have to find the channels for the big rpgs (Zerg Hunter comes to mind) and look there. There are probably a few ppl who are in the same dilema...
I would probably play if there were some amazing ones with custom UI, balanced stats, and easy to pick up mechanics and spells. But Zerg Hunter is kind of confusing at first because you're usually paired with three or two guys who know what they're doing so they go on without you leaving you behind wondering wtf. So you try to catch up and you just die either at the boss or the huge attack on that city, is it supposed to be a city?
Also if Blizzard would allow saving of more things through banks it would make RPGs so much better since RPGs are about saving everything about your characters not just parts. It feels incomplete without starting from the same spot.
EDIT: Showing the lobbies is the best system ever. I don't understand why so many choose to use a matchmaking format of some kind. It's ok for ranked things matchmake that but don't mess with custom games. If they could just show the lobbies that would make bnet so much better.
@Keyeszx: Go Single-player offline bypasses all of those issues you mentioned :) although you won't get to play in the popularity wars with all of the pleasant and mature company present on b.net
Channel ZHRPG is a good place to meet other players and you can often ask for help from veterans if you need it. We are also working on new features for the ZHRPG website to vastly improve your communication with other players and make arranging games much easier.
ZHRPG was up at the top in popularity a few months back, and every time I want to play I can usually find people in the channel. Or I get a party together.
I think eventually another RPG will come around and prolly get back up to the top. I remember it was like that on Wc3, at least when I played. CoT was hosted a lot, then it sorta died down, but other RPGs came eventually. Prolly just need to wait?
You can virtually save everything with the current banks. The limit on bank size is pretty much nonexistent. If you wanted you could save player position every NPC he talked to, hell you could probably store pretty much every move a player made. BUT banks still seem to be a common source of bugs and crashes...
Enough offtopic. I agree more RPG's will come eventually.
I play em' occasionally. But with all these new games coming out lately I haven't been playing Starcraft 2 that much. I usually play the RTS style RPG's though. When people try to incorporate 3rd person into a RTS engine I ragequit.

Yup used to play RPGs all the time in WC3 sadly the only good rpg on europe server is ZHRPG.
Its that or a A River Flows Through It and that can hardly be called an RPG

RPG's are one of the most involved projects one can undertake and I certainly don't blame anyone for not having their RPG projects ready yet.
I'm just a crazy person! o_O
