i swear to go i havn't posted here in so long but this topic just made
me wanna post again.....
Fucken hell Rodrigo get over your self every bloody week you have a new
post about Blizzard doing some think wrong and not rite i yet to see you
say any think about the fact that they are trying..... if its not the
custom map system its bitching about your maps not getting to the top of
the list OMG
get the fuck over it man... games do not get fixed over nigh.... give it
time, it is not easy to fix a game system
if you don't like it don't use it, its your life you don't like it do
some think different mod UT3,
for crying out loud your like a kid man my mates son don't cry about as
much shit as you do
please grow the fuck up and get over it.......
Talk to my hand.
You're complaining that I was complaining, but your are complaining a way more than I was. Next time let's pretend everything is allright! We might even make Blizzard believe everything is allright, so they won't need to fix anything anymore.
I'm interested more in are there any community-created custom maps, that were sent to blizzard to get them featured. I think they are just testing how good the "featuring" system works. Or how their maps work.
What's the problem with featuring now? It already was in sc2 for quarter a year, and it wasn't giving any problems. Make a good map, and you are on the top of the list. At least, it's easy to say than to do it :-D
from what i would imagine, they're prolly doing this to test to see if featuring maps on the front page makes any difference. becuase them telling everyone their doing this would completly void the experiment. sadly though these maps take up 3 valuable slots on the top page that every map maker strives for.
Yes! Thats what I am hoping for too. And the fact that now you can get achievement points and portraits might mean that we are allowed to add achievement or portrait bonus in the future... Cross u fingers
Again? What was the first time they cheated? Also it could be for seeing if popularity list matters, although enough people will play it and stop as soon as they get the portraits or achievements or they could keep it up there for the people who want the achievements and portraits so others don't complain I can't get a game going to get these.
Are the mods legit size, like same rules we abide to?
Blizzard could do that. It would be perfectly allowed if there is no rule in the GSL against it. However, you can be sure that GSL would ban that in future rules, the Blizzard employee would no longer be good enough without his trick, and people would frown upon that employee for doing that in the first place. But should he get banned? No, any player could have done it. But this exploit wouldn't pay off for the employee regardless since everyone would know s/he didn't really deserve the wins. Winning at the expense of image. The same applies in the case of the map system. I personally don't care, but apparently Blizzard's image is being harmed by 'cheating' like this. At the same time, there is nothing inherently wrong with it.
You complain consistently over a prolonged period of time and you think he's complaining more than you are with a single post?
What is the reason you even care about this so much that you complain all the time? Is it because you want people to be able to discover your maps since you think they will enjoy them and you just want to spread happiness, or is it because you want to be popular? If it's the former, then there is nothing wrong with complaining. Just acknowledge that you do complain a lot. If there is a valid reason for the complaint, you shouldn't feel bad about it. The fact that you're denying that you complain often makes it seem like you do feel there is a level of invalidity to your whining and leads to the suspicion that you care more about fame.
Do not feel the need to respond as I will not be revisiting this thread.
f..k pop with gravel and baby powder on top, i really couldn't care less ;)
However,
.uck no lan!
i consider this the only cheat they ever could do / did!,
this in the context of the mapmaking experience, not even the playing experience.
(and i know, they had to do it because.. blabla bla.. but i had hoped commercial interest could stop where customer investment starts... and that simply is not going to be the case anytime soon with "multiplayer" in galaxy)
Let's be fair, their product is great.. but the online only experience is mehhhhhh
It is cheating to misrepresent these maps as standard (well.. it's more of a lie) to the "community".
Why did they not just state:
"we groomed these maps of course, since we are featuring them as pro maps"
(who cares if they are good or not, they choose to "help" them, so these maps are not bound to the same rules, and are therefore "blizz maps", not community maps anymore).
Advertising their maps.. on top of the list?.. anyone would/should do the same (mr alves is just stating the fact?)
But i wonder how many different ways they can come up with to clutter with their own maps without "communicating" about it...?
if there is a Blizz list, why not use it?
ps:
i hate mr alves wining stance
i love rodrigo's extroverted passion for galaxy

all the time? Is it because you want people to be able to discover your
maps since you think they will enjoy them and you just want to spread
happiness, or is it because you want to be popular?
If I cared about popularity, I would be promoting Platform Defense and Nexus Word Wars instead of Debates. I know NWW has 10000x more chances to be popular than Debates has, but I'm still trying to promote Debates. It's not about popularity, it's about what is fun to promote.
Now talking about popularity, iCJug Xel'Naga Caverns is on the top of page 2. It would be on the 1st page if wasn't by Blizzard's map taking all that space on the 1st page.
Not right now. wait til Blizzard has 20 maps. Page 1 and Page 2 is full of their maps. Should I wait and save my QQ till that happened?
That'll never happen. Blizzard's work is a bit questionable in this respect, but they're not that dumb.
Anyway, I like it actually. Makes getting these achievements much easier, since the maps got a real good boost. Actually it could be that this was their intentional all along. (A bit cheesy, but still.)
They'll not remain there forever. I'd guess that, in 2-3 weeks, Blizz will put up other maps again.
Tbh, seeing blizzard putting their own map at the top of the list made me laugh pretty hard.
Sure, its their god-given right to do so, but still... it feels a little "Damn, our own maps fail in our own system. Maybe the system is flawed? - Naah, we just put them at the top and everything is fine ;)"
But now, think about, what would happen, if the popularity list would be made, for example, by Rodrigo. Well, assuming, he would not just screw the whole system, I am pretty sure the 3 maps on top would be NWW, Debates and ICJug ;)
To be honest, as much as I hate it - and the popularity system - it seems perfectly reasonable. 85% of the people who play games aren't that smart and would constantly be asking how to download their "Custom Mods". I guess to me it seems like they did it for "professional" reasons and not for "selfish" reasons. It just doesn't surprise me at all. Since they updated them and people - undoubtedly - want to get the achievements, they decided to make them visible so people could find them and bookmark them before they un-sticky them again.
But is it really the systems fault (now) that people wouldn't be able to find them? Is it that hard to find a map, no matter were it is?
Also... Whens the last time you saw the Burning Tide stickied? :P
