Dammit... When I saw the title I thought you managed to extract the models from the leaked alpha client ;[
I'm pretty certain that they will be importable and compatible with SC2. It's the same engine and the same editor, why would they change the format of the models?

I'm sure they'll just be normal m3 models too, but I suspect that Blizzard won't want us using them in SC2 in the same way they didn't want us using HotS assets in WoL maps.
My reasoning is that some of the models will be paid. I have a feeling (and that's all it is, a feeling) that they won't want us using paid models in free maps.
I suspect too that Blizzard will not allow us to use these models in SC2 maps, similar to how we are not allowed to use HOTS models in WOL maps. They will probably be compatible, but maps that use them will probably get taken down pretty quickly.

what makes me think you are wrong is that HOTS gonna be a free game
I'm guessing they'll do something similar to League, where you can get everything (sans skins) for free but spend an abnormal amount of time to acquire everything. I would really hate for them to go for a pay-per-hero route, but I doubt they'd be as generous as DOTA's system.

I would like them to make about half (around 2-3 per champion) purchasable for around double the amount of a champion through in-game currency.
I really hate that league doesn't have some skins for each champ like this.
I understand if they dont, but looking at the same champ after I paid $30 into it gets a bit repetitive. It's one of the reasons I haven't played it/put MORE money into it in over a year. Skins on league are over-priced, the reason I put $30 into it was to support the game because I liked it.
But Liek I said the skins would have to be the highest costing thing. like double that of a champion(a champ should take 10-25 games, a skin should tak 25-50 games) I assume there will be other things like runes and such to buff your champ but I dont know.
Right-click view for bigger.
I love that infested Tychus model.
And I like that dude with gammon-club.

Are these available in the editor now???
dat Anub Arak
I want its babys
Nope, and Blizzard has suggested that they won't ever be. Unsure if they'll be importable.
They also lack any team colour so I'm unsure how useful they'd be anyway. They'd need editing to be useful.
Models dont need team colors to be usefull.
nice tits u have right there!
still that giant murloc is badbutteryass!

Many tears will be shed if we can't use these wonderful models.

It's VERY simple to add team color to a model. So I doubt that would be a hindrance.
but the amount of additional size mod files or maps will have just to have those team colors biggest annoyance in the end.

Doesnt mean they dont want people to play Heroes.
@TyaStarcraft: Go
That's a good point. Hopefully the basic skins that come free with the game will be allowed.
I'm sure there a are a few people who'll be fully satisfied with the basic Diablo or Tyrael skin for their sc2 maps :P

I'm SURE they won't want us to use any paid models in Starcraft 2. But what about free models? Even that is a question, IMO.
I hope SOME at the very least are obtainable with in-game currency :/ even if it is a larger amount(like 2x the amount to purchase a hero)
