Now Blizzard is reseting not only the popularity list, but also the UpComing list. So now, all the maps in the UpComing were reset back to 100.
And guess how maps with 100 rating are sorted? Yeah, by popularity.
In other words, if Blizzard keeps reseting the UpComing list, we will see it exactly as the Most popular list forever.
edit: Well... it doesn't matter, no one goes to the UpComing tab anyway.
I just dont get Blizzard. Are they too genius?
I mean its a no brainer "Fun or Not" and" Up & Coming" are supposed to only include maps that are not on top 3 pages of most popular... What's the point of promoting already popular map? Might as well remove Up&Coming if thats the case.
I think Fun Or Not should be disabled in the first 24 hours to populate most popular page first.
Then after that, Fun or Not should pick random games that's not in top 3 pages of most popular.
It's no brainer, no rocket science. Am I too stupid? Or Blizzard too genius?
About Up & Coming... scores should not "start" from anywhere, why are they on a 0-100 scale in the first place? Make them reflect the % of players pushing that nice FUN button, it's a no brainer really. Then remove from that list all maps without enough votes or with a played counter greater than X and you have a working system. I know, that would actually make sense and it's Battle.net we are talking about here... :|
What I don't get is why do they have the popular page list every game? They need popular to be just 5 pages. Then they need up and coming to be all the maps except the 5 pages for popular. Like WhiskeeGX said give a percentage on how many clicked fun and sort it that way. If players actually go in the up and coming or popular and choose those maps at the results screen allow them to rate it fun or not.
Also rating should be uncapped to reflect more the reality. Then eventually when map reaches for example to 10000 positive rating it would be removed from the list permanently.

100% agree and maps already popular shouldn't be in there at all.
thx blizzard... for this... and for adding bookmarks before :)
edit: i dont understand that. in the case of minerals, which had 6000 hours played yesterday. and now its 5 hours, wtf? and there are maps i never heard, and they are played 6000 hours now...
Btw does anyone have an idea how the Fun or not works?
Sometimes it just seems it places you on random popular game (you create game when you join empty lobby?), thus popular maps are majority of games and you mostly only join popular maps then. Is that how it works or what?

This is all they need to fix Fun or Not imo (bump if you agree):

Yeah... Fun or Not doesn't work how I think it should. =/

My suggestion would allow it to happen not immediately but eventually at least.
Why can't the rating be based off of a true bayesian estimate? Whoever writes these algorithms is making me rage.
Some of the most popular games has now absurd play time. Starbattle 3 hours? 1 game 12 players 20min that would be 4 hours.
I wonder.. wtf Do they ignore all the people with bookmark? Do the popular maps from last week get punished?
ahm... my map has 6000 bookmarks and yesterday it was on page 1, maybe 5-7th place. and now its page 9 ????
Yeah, this is really wacky. O_o
