This is a bad idea. It will simply punish maps that aren't already very
popular. Also punishes maps with lower player numbers.
No it won't. It will remove all the 500 pages list and leave it just 2-3 pages. If your map is not popular, it won't get played anyway, but with this, when you host, your map will go straight to page 2 and you can get people on page 2.
And besides, people would play a waaaay more maps on page 3, because they know there will be people on it!
In other words, this is very similar with the Warcraft 3 pop. sys.
It's not similar to the WC3 pop sys, but I think having this on as default would be good (And only by going into options, typing a hidden password that only Chuck Norris knows and isn't prepared to share, fighting a few major world wars and then fixing climate change could they turn it off. Or perhaps just an option in the Bnet tab :/)
Meh, it would have it's benefits. By no means though do I think it should be the default.
What I think would really help is if Blizzard made it so that the default page when you go to "Join Custom Game", is a single page which simply contains a list of random maps. The list would be randomly generated every night, and remain for the rest of the day.

That wont work because 95% of the maps are crappy maps made by little kids. The best thing is to show maps with people waiting to play.
Just think: You want to play map X that no one knows about. You host it! The map goes to the list. Since the list is filter by time waiting in lobby, more you wait, more the map climbs the popularity list, and faster you get people to play. IN OTHER WORDS: you would play ANY map you want (even debates) and you would get people to play because if you wait long enough in lobby, the map will be on the top. This will exclude all the popular maps because their lobby already fill up really fast.
In this way, everyone is happy. Not popular maps you have to wait 5-20 minutes in lobby. Popular maps you wait <5 minutes. Everyone play what they want to play, and they will see a bigger variety of maps on the list.
So far, popular maps you wait 2 seconds and not popular maps you wait 10 years.
given how horribly laggy the entire system is i doubt this would work
doesn't feel like it refreshes at all. only once when you first open custom games
and it fills. so slowely. with maps not showing for awhile.
one thing i want is for the god damn PAGES to gtfo. i hate it. just give me a scrollbar. but. i doubt their legendary platform could handle it. given how much trouble it has loading 1 page of 10 maps or so.
makes sense why they refuse to incorporate a wc3/sc1 style join list. their AMAZING platform probably couldn't handle it.
gaming platforms are going backwards. they are simply getting worse and worse. i am not impressed.
i think the system refreshes "your" individual list when you launch the create option, and then refreshes again and again when you toggle the "more" option...
So in a sense, bnet2° does not "have" a list, more like a torrent... well that's my take on it.. how else would you explain the search's feature poor efficiency?
(typing key words giving you truncated or false results for instance)
Also (on eu at least), it's a clusterf.ck of double and triple versions of (apparently) the same maps (how many "Death Heaven" are there actually?)...

I wish...
Everybody wants that. It solves a lot of problems.
maps with host not afk aswell? :P
I take it back. This is a bad idea. It first of all won't change the first few pages at all. Second, it'll just end up hiding the most unpopular maps.
Yeah, but if you have an unpopular map and host it, it will show up on page 2-3 instead of on page 30.

An empty game filter was the one thing I said they needed in all those 'what should we do in bnet' threads.

I prefer the Chuck Norris way :D
