Are we allowed to publicly publish our map on Battle.net before it is submitted as an entry to the contest? If so, is there any kind of time limit to this, i.e. could I publish a map, let's say today, and wait until the deadline before submitting it?
Are we allowed to publicly playtest our maps before submitting them to the contest?
Are we allowed to modify our map that is published on Battle.net after it has been submitted as an entry to the contest? In other words, can the file on Battle.net be a newer version of the map than the one submitted to the contest?
After the contest is over, are the maps treated as regular maps once again, i.e. are we allowed to do whatever with them?
"@Goa: If I recall correctly, it's because those countries or states have strict gambling/competition for monitory prizes laws that disallow or make it very difficult for their residents to participate in competitions like this. I know Desrow and Major have had difficulty playing in SC2 tournaments because of these laws. "
Uhm... no. Alot of the countries excluded from the list were allowed to participate in the Blizzcon contests, so there is no reason for these countries not to be listed here.
We have updated the ruleset and now GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, RUSSIA, THE CZECH REPUBLIC, CROATIA, THE UKRAINE, POLAND, BULGARIA AND HUNGARY are included. Unfortunately due to many regulations for contests in different countries it is not always possible to include all countries though we would like to. Here in this case however it was a mistake that we didn't have those added from the start.

Aaw, nothing for Baltics, and I adore contests so much =(
This will be one brutal contest if any map ever created is allowed to participate.
One of the criteria is "freshness".
I seriously doubt that old maps like Squadron TD would get far, or maps like StarCraft Universe which have years of publications behind it.
I could be completely wrong. Who knows how many people will even participate. My arbitrary guess is that we'll only see about 4-5 serious entries.
I'm still looking forward to it, though. Not only is this healthy for the arcade, but Blizzard have really been pulling out all the stops for the arcade lately. More importantly, this type of competition suggests that they have something in mind for the arcade after the competition has been concluded.

A few questions...

Sounds pretty cool, shame that almost half of EU can't join though. Oh well. Good luck to all contestants!

Seems like a good time* to resume development on the new version of Photon Cycles*.
I checked over the rules 3 times and didn't see anything that said you couldn't.

Still cool that more people are able to join now.
