Whenever i create terrain, i just can't seem to satisfy myself. I THINK it's done, but that feeling lingers the whole time but i cant seem to spot a thing out of place.
Basically, its supposed to be Haven-ish, or just a foresty area occupied by terran civilians and military with conflict zones. As for gameplay, the biggest military bases are supposed to be well fortified and just look beastly while minor bases and towns look dinky. In between everything are forests (aka trees and dirt) with paths and small empty spots for people to hide and jump each other.
The player controls one caster as well as units that the caster summons or MCs, eventually leading up to maybe 80 food armies.
Anyway, the terrain sometimes feels cramped, or just bland. Again, i cant put my finger on it. Any suggestions? Or am i paranoid?
(small notes if you want to view the map in-game: Upon startup, a zerg pod drops from the sky and spawns you. Once spawned, press E and wait for the egg to hatch. Once hatched, burrow your unit to make sure he doesnt get killed by pats. Now locate the observer in the lower left and use that to look around. Its invincible and fast)
I noticed the map in question. Literally the first thought that poped into my mind was foliage. I see the trees, but no wooded ground or stumps or anything. Aside from that, it seems that much of your map is in the corners or on the edges of things, the zerg base for an example. I would make more of an obvious entrance to the bases. It's looking pretty good though.
If you're not ever happy with it, either get happy or work on it a bit more and reasses what is needed.
The huge bases are supposed to be out of the way. I don't want people just wandering through them, they must go there on purpose (for reasons being, AI battles happen at them)

The particular map in question is here: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/infest-and-consume/files/1-test/
