I'm working on remaking the Radar Tower! This is what I have so far.
Compared to :
I'm using Blender. And all I really did was piece together the Sensor Tower, I only had to make 2 new shapes, the weird fins and the dish below everything.
I still have all the original shapes, if it doesn't look right let me know so I can mess around with it!
Awesome idea, if I can make a simple request, please make it (or a separate version?) have a turret for the dish, so it can move around or be set to spin constantly like the Missile Turret.

Nice idea. It shouldn't be too much trouble to use the original texture or a slight modification to it.
I have no idea how to texture or animate yet, so that's going to be an entirely different challenge than what I went through to figure out how to do what I did here. xD
But with any luck, I can do it! I'm just doing some small adjustments than I'm going to start working on texturing, then animating.
I want the shape to be as close as I can possibly get it first before I do anything else.
Lol. So, half of the texture was still placed correctly. I figured it out, Blender makes it quite easy! Model is virtually done. I'm about 10% of the way done with the texture. And get this, a lot of the spots of the texture on the Sensor Tower were left over from the Radar.
Looking good! Hope the dish can be used as a turret so it can spin around, would be pretty cool.
I'll probably do something like that since so many people want it, after I finish the original.
I don't quite know how I'll do the morph animation, I may have to get someone to do that for me. (It just seems way too complex for me to do, but we'll see) But I can definitely do the idle animation once I figure out how animations work.
Edit: I'd say I have the Diffuse about 80-90% done now.
That's an amazing thing, for me looks identical, just add some intermitent light on the back of the model and you're done. What was the original ability of the Sensor Tower, only being able to morph to this? EDIT: this reminds me something: would be amazing if someone could make a morph animation for the InfestedBunker.m3 which is in HotS assets, Blizzard released the unit but not an animation for morphing between and Infestable Bunker and the Infested Bunker itself.

The original Sensor Tower detected cloaked units, with that ability being removed from the Missile Turret.
The Sensor Tower morphed into the Radar Tower, which had the ability the Sensor Tower has now.
EDIT: The lights are going to be the last thing I do, because those are particles. And I don't even know where to start on Particles, I had minor experience in everything else before-hand, but not in Particles.
EDIT 2: Also when I'm done, I'm going to release both the finished product and the "Source" file, which is what I'm calling it. Which is all the shapes I used and the Sensor Tower dissected n' all that junk.
EDIT 3: Those are apparently not particles, so I guess I can figure them out easy.
Shadows cast weirdly, there's a box and then the normal shadow. I'm not quite sure what's up with that. But I figured since this is virtually done, I'd put it out now so people can mess with it. =)
EDIT 2: Also, Stand 02 does nothing. I know why this is, and I'll fix it once everything else is done.
Also, I have NOT put the lights on yet. I need a little bit more practice before I do so.
To test it out, I just replaced the Sensor Tower's Model with it. All textures are in-game, no need to import textures.

Some simple animations have been done, but the original does a lot more than what I did. So, yeah. Gotta make more/make it better. xD

Nice progress! :) I like how it looks a little taller than the original, makes it feel more like a tower and less like a turret.
Animations are done. I feel like they're kind of okay.
