You know, sometimes maps getting doubled in bnet. One stays with usual (fastest) speed, and other one has slower speed.
Today I found 2 instances of my map: with fastest and medium speed. And in spite of my attempts, the slower one won in popularity and getting higher, while fastest one going down. Probably because search shows only one instance, and it's not the proper one. But my map is slow itself, i'ts just unplayable with medium speed.
So, how can I remove somehow the slower one? What if I delete the map from server and then reupload it again? I'm afraid it will make it lose all the bookmarks ;/
Same thing happened with Magecraft, and even when it got featured they picked the normal version.
Luckily there's a way to force the speed to be faster, even in the version that claims to be normal. It won't fix your splitting problem, unfortunately, but that's Blizzard's bug, not yours.
You shouldn't delete it because I think it says if you do, you can't upload anything with that particular name again.
I believe you fix it by editing the Map -> Game Variants -> Game Attributes -> Game Speed, set Values to Faster, check everything except Faster in Removed Values and in Access make it Locked (removing values might be redundant, but do it anyway).
Hmm, maybe I need to wait more time until maps disappear from the list. I can see them after I deleted it, they just unenterable. When I reupload it, they both become enterable again and the slower one works slow still.

Tried - dind't help. Both maps still there, speed option isn't visible anymore, but one works slow, another one - faster.
Edit: If you really are getting desparate...say...in 3 days...there is one last option...
Remove the map from battle.net and keep it removed for about 2-3 days and then republish. This will lower the map HUGE in popularity and is a last resort.
However, what happens if you change the description in one map? Does it change both? If so, then edit the description and add in HUGE text that one version is slower, if you are playing the slower version, please exit immediately and join the lobby that says "faster". This might help. I would have thought this was one of the first things you could have done. However, this option might take some time to even work out.
Yeah, I will do it if the wrong one keep being higher.
Btw, I found out what exactly copies maps.
I allowed all speed opions again, and created a game instead of joining it. Then I changed speed to fast, made map public and started it. This created a 3rd copy of the map with speed = fast :D
But now search shows the faster version, and player bookmarks lead to the faster. Maybe because faster one has higher rating. Hope it will stay this way and slower ones plunge into the bottom of map list's ass.
What exactly happens if you have several versions of the Map in the Battle.net List and then get rid of all the Game Variants and reduce it to one? What will happen to the bookmarks? To the popularity? Has anyone tried it? Will it be just like you have removed the 'Map' and the bookmarks malfunction then?
You can have only one game variant, but none of gamespeeds disabled. And this leaves a map a possibility to be doubled. But if an author disables all gamespeeds except the desireble one and(or) make speed unchangeble, no one can double your map.
But if it happened yet, all bookmarks and the map you see after search lead to the clone which has best rating. So, if you can somehow keep the proper one higher, players will join it frequently. I may be wrong here, because in my case, the "faster" one was winning, but then it was beaten by the "fast" one. Dunno why.
Popularity is equal for all clones at the moment of cloning. But then each clone become independent in popularity, and usually one copy stays popular. others fall down.
If a player removes the map, all clones become unjoinable. But if you upload the map with the same name again, all bookmarks and all popularity ratings will be the same. But all clones will stay too.
I don't know if it possible or not, but the best and obvious thing would be like this: u delete a map -> all clones gone. U reupload it back with the same name -> only one copy appears, bookmarks still work. But it doesn't work this way if you reupload the map in a short period after u deleted it. Maybe if you give the server a time and reupload it after a few days, clones may disappear. But it's only a hypothesis, I never tried it. Yet.
Force game speed in a trigger so that even if it gets set wrong in lobby the game will still run at the intended speed.
Set the variants so that you can not change the speed.
Re-upload the map
There isn't much you can do to remove the duplicates on b.net other then deleting the map and wait for it to lose its popularity, which I wouldn't recommend doing.
If you follow my steps it should right itself after the duplicates lose pop since they can no-longer be played if you set the variants correctly.

I think there is a misunderstanding. For example, my map has 4 difficulties (=4 Game Variants), but unfortunately the Easy difficulty is the most popular. I don't like that, because the Map gets a bit boring because of that. My Map is listed 4 times (1 for each difficulty) and I wonder if I can erase the Easy difficulty but keep the bookmarks people created for that Game Variant.
Blizzard did the same with Left2Die (it had 5 Game Variants and was therefore listed 5 times), then they removed all Game Variants and merged them into one.

I'd like to know how to merge map copies. But I don't know how, maps don't merge after you disable variants. Maybe blizzard made it manually. But still I think that all your bookmarks lead to the most popular copy, the easy one in yoru case.

Any advices?
Remove the map, republish it, done,
Take the exact map with the slower speed FROM battle.net and modify it from there and reupload it.

You mean I need to download the slower one from bnet? But I can see only one in the list of my maps...

Oh, didn't know gamespeed can be set by a trigger. It totally solves the problem, thank you.

I think they just featured their map and therefore didn't really need popularity. That's pretty cheap, but there is nothing we can do about it.
You can force game speed via trigger. It worked for me when game room got bugged.
