I'm just curious if there's anything interesting going on. Most contests etc are at least a year old and there aren't really any major map projects posted. Kind of feels like SC2 Mapping community is somewhat... Dead, Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyone got some cool stuff to share that might be interesting to look at?
The only promising thing I've seen lately is Triceron's Warcraft Models
Don't fret friend for we have just unlocked the mystery of counter-clockwise boolean. That knowledge will propel us forward into a new age of map-craft! No more contained by logic or reason, we will witness the world change, swallow principles by which our fathers lived and redefine all that we know anew. It's a glorious time to be a map-maker.
Edit: if you're feeling lonely - join IRC.
If you got something you want to test - join mapnight.
If you want a contest - create one.
There isn't much excitement around here. I'd make a mapmaking event to make some cool maps, but I recently regained enthusiasm in my new map, so I'm mapping instead.
i don't think it's that nothing is going on, it's just that some projects like mine are being made on the side, and taking a while to do. Also yes the counter clockwise boolean has been discovered. But i also found the left string.

Yes mapping is pretty much a lame horse at this point. But it could still get better. but it most likely at this point wont.
It's a pity the Forums have gotten so in-active. If you want opinions on a topic you get 4-5 different responses at best. People aren't particularly interested in new projects, seems like everyone expects projects to just fail. Suppose it's a valid opinion considering how many projects go down the drain.

Well people expecting projects to fail is in a way a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Well, I for one tend to take long breaks from actively working on SC2. I check in on SC2Mapster 3-4 times a week, but I'm not actively working on anything. One common misconception is that I have abandoned my project, when I have not. It isn't that I've lost interest either, it's that other things came up in life that have taken precedence for the moment. Last year I was focusing on trying to get into college. Now I'm focusing on figuring out "how to college". Once that's figured out, then I think things will take off again.
Another thing is that over my years on SC2Mapster, I have noticed a steady wave of activity spikes. It doesn't really seem to correlate to anything (I mean obviously HoTS was the exception) besides the time of year.

Still alive and kicking, just busy.
My guide to the trigger editor (still a work in progress)

Awesome...
Most projects dont get finished, they r unsure if the concept is any good, or they stepped off the bus.
