thats not the poin though, your paying a monthly fee for another title, that has nothing to do with starcraft...
Violating the terms of service applies to your Battle.net account, not to an individual game. Besides, if you violate the rules on one game, why wouldn't you on another? Being banned from all games on your Battle.net account effectively punishes the user.
because its not the same at all in anyway .
He violated a map uploaded rule, NOT a behavioral violation...ect
Banning between all games, when it relates to ONE (attitude..ect could be between all) but not map making,
This is wrong on so many levels.

I think everyone is overreacting. Blizzard made a rule and he broke it. What do you expect? Flowers and candy? Seriously, guys, if you don't like it, don't mod/make maps for Starcraft 2 or protest it to Blizzard directly (see below). It's that simple.
I would like to point out that the image in question does offend me, being that I'm fairly religious. However, I chose to ignore it. Someone, on the other hand, was offended, and reported it. That's all there is to it.
If you want to protest it, go email Blizzard, and/or post on THEIR forums. Posting here will do NOTHING. Absolutely nothing because, last I checked, the only forum that Blizz reads here is the Galaxy Editor Bugs forum (if I'm wrong about this, then that's fine). If you're afraid of getting banned for posting on the b.net forums, then send an email.

If you violate their rules, you are subject to any punishment they choose. I really don't see what is wrong with being banned from Battle.net as a whole if you violate their rules.

I proceed to play DotU(Defence of the Universe). Again, fail.
Terrain is a mess, distances are too far, limited heroes , bad design overall, just complete fail.
Remember, no offence to the authors.
So please people. Instead of being trigger happy and wasting your life, and stuffing Battle net with fail maps. LEARN. Go and learn principles on design. Do some basic research on what people like/dislike, and be an objective designer. Look at games in history that stand out, what makes them so?. I`ll tell you one key element, and that is "Simplicity".<</quote>>
oh yea, my bad. you included "no offence to the authors" because that makes everything better, right?

Same reason why people hate police for some reason. They got busted.
Seriously, Blizz is starting to kick itself in the ass on so many levels since Activison joined in, it's not funny anymore. They made some mistakes before, but since the fusion between Vivendi and Activion, things are getting WAY out of hand.

There is a point in posting it here... to inform others in the modding community!
First off, I liked the load screen! :D Kudos to whomever made that (as I'm hoping you didn't just copy/pasta it). It appears to me as a portrayal of good vs evil; though I would have gone with some angelic figure to oppose the demon/devil (which can all still be viewed as religious depictions). I agree w/ Gorandor that this is all just way out of hand! Srsly though... should we all just say that the protoss themselves are offensive (that is that they 'may potentially be offensive to someone) because of the Tal Dareem; a group of religious zealots? The Protoss as a race is heavily religious in and of itself. What about the 'gods'; Xel'naga? There is also Thor and Odin... and the character voice that states that he sees himself as a god. There are others, but wtf...
BUT, OH wait... I realize that it is a game and don't give a damn about whether or not it offends me (though it doesn't)! If it offends you (a game, map, or otherwise)... don't play it... >.>
Something will almost always offend someone... So, lets just please everyone and have nothing! Ironically, that offends me.
Actually I think this is more of what would americans do, but w/e
@OP:
The pic is truly amazing, I realy love it. Do you have a HD 1920*1080 version? I'd love it for my new desktop wallpaper:)
Also I don't see how it is religiously offensive, it's apparently a good guy and bad guy wrestling.
If someone interprets it as God and Devil, it's their call. Anyone actualy impersonating deities into plain bodies is just clueless twat anyway. Too bad they have those in Blizzard HQ...
On Earth, with 100+ different religions prety much ANYTHING could me marked in such manner. I mean, you can't have for example cows in maps, because cow is sacred for Buddhists. Basicaly if they don't like you, they can ban you for this and say it's abusing some obscure religion from middle of nowhere. Utter BS.
I don't see how Blizzard can complain about that when their other game features the devil, it's even named Devil (Diablo). And last time I checked, that very same devil is even in the SC2 game on a map.

Probably more to do with Jesus. Diablo isn't really Satan from the Bible anyway.
Regardless, they have already shown rules for publishing maps, and religious figures are definitely there. Obviously showing a picture of Jesus arm-wresting Satan is questionable.
I highly doubt this does anything with Activision (same with Real ID on forums, premium maps, etc). If you are going to compare to WarCraft III, the way Battle.net worked and how uploading maps in general worked made it difficult or impossible to enforce rules on maps.

The Devil is definitely a religious figure though, and he is already in the game (and yes, Diablo means Devil in Spanish). The map he is featured on is even called "The Devil's Playground" and is a lava/hellish map, so there is no doubt that they are referencing the religious character The Devil. I don't see how you cannot be allowed to use religious figures when Blizzard themselves implemented him and named a map after him. He's even in the map editor.
I mean, the rule is "Has any connotations of major religions or religious figures (i.e. Jesus, Christianity, Buddha)" and then they themselves name maps "Hell" and "The Devil". On top of that, plenty of units are even named after gods we have here in Sweden, such as Thor. Or after Christian figures, such as "Devil Dogs", hypocrisy if I ever saw it.
Maybe this happened because they joined with Activision. I don't remember Blizzard getting sued for Heaven's Defense (of whatever it was called) on sc1. I find it funny that they restrict modders from having drugs, beer, etc. in a map, when they had it in the game. I just know if this is happening, if blizzard ever had a offensive button for the whole game, someone would click it. Anyways sorry, for being banned for 3 hours. The loading screen was cool. I was going to play this map, but I can't find it on the list no more. You should re-upload it with a different picture, and when you can upload it with that picture, do so.
Yes, it is getting way too out of hand. Region locking, no lan, etc. If it continues like this, Blizzard may just lose a good amount of players. If its this bad in sc2, imagine how bad it will be for Diablo 3.

And this is what will kill the modding industry, politics. SC2's lifespan has shorten "That" much since the release date.
You should never see Blizzard as a saint or evil, they are business people, so ALWAYS expect the UNEXPECTED!
Maybe it's easier to say that they are a mix of an opportunist and a paranoid.

Here is another thread where EternalWraith tries to give advice to an aspiring mapper :D
http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/map-development/6736-setting-life-of-unit-with-triggers/#p9
Maybe we should all take his wonderful advice and just quit now, because we will probably fail anyways.
Fuck religion, srsly

Amazing picture is amazing, nuf said. I bet less people will get banned for hacking than for map making.

I agree 100%. Maybe Activision caused this, but I doubt Activision has that much control over Blizzard.

lol, I would have to agree.
