There was around 8-6 players, and we eventually had 5, so we played a few maps that were not team vs. team games. (also this appears to be my 400th post :D )
Games that were played during EU mapnight #9!
Hybrid Assault - By Dustin Hendrickson
An interesting concept for a game, it would take two or three games to completely understand this game, I was the builder and defender and anticipated hunkering down, repairing my buildings under siege, but the heroes pushed out full force and all I needed to do was upgrade and make heal stations.
Card Shuffle Beta - By Fulla
Still a favorite of mine to play with others, it is good to see that he is taking out advice and applying our thoughts that he agrees with. One thing that was brought up as a critique to this game was the "controls". What was meant by this was that some spells require the player to deselect their card caster or hero, select the unit that they wanted to apply the spell to, and then click the card to cast the card. Some other cards, you have your hero selected, and when you go to cast the card, a target icon comes up and you click the unit that you want to cast the card on. I would personally want to see a consistency of either make it so all cards either do the select and cast, or do the target and cast, because I have personally accidentally cast a spell on a unit that I had selected when I assumed that the target icon would come up.
Starhammer 40k Build #6 Beta - By Fate
I was an observer during this game, folding laundry in another room, so I am not certain what happened haha
.
Heroes of Entropy - By Goa
I can see some progress being made with this game. Cretan spells such as storm appear to be fairly over powered, and I got my damage up to the point that I could two shot their heroes if I stayed alive. A warning sound for a 1 minute warning would be nice to alert players to prepare for the PVP portion of the game.
Blasterbots - By DuckyTheDuck
This game is still a wonderfully fun game, we all got to the point were everyone was attempting to kill DuckyTheDuck who put up an impressive fight, but the orange team eventually won :D
Dodge the Observers - By DisCipliNe
Fun and simple dodge game, not much else to be said.
Sniping: Sniper - By butterflo
The new Must for Map night, this game was a fun reaction based game. The sniping sound was quite satisfying, and it proved to be surprisingly difficult to kill the opponent at times and you really felt rewarded when you got someone. Rounds lasted 3-5 minutes maximum, it was a dam good game.
Chu Chu Madness - By Kildare
Like I said last time, the camera could use some work, and some bugs ironed out.
3D City Defense BETA - By zarltok
I remember seeing this game and thinking it was a really cool looking game. It had custom voice actors, and a pretty well constructed tutorial, too bad our initial latency spike threw the dialog off. Visually the game look great, in fact, I might dare say it was beautiful. But the controls made it nearly impossible to play for myself. The camera controls were a bit odd, and it took me a few moments to get the feel on how the heck to move. All this game really needs is a complete overhaul on how the controls work and it will be set. It was allot to take in first time playing.
I just finished the basic mechanics of a game that I specifically made for map night, and I started it 5 days ago haha. I hope to get it latency tested, I need to see how the game reacts to 8-10 players before I conceder perusing it further.
Warning: if you are good with triggers and like nice, neat, efficient coding, do yourself a favor and don't open the trigger editor in my map at the moment if you test it today ;)
Thanks everyone who tested Speed Vikings Pre-Alpha, There were no noticeable bugs shockingly (it takes 2 shots to kill a Viking btw), and the feedback on the UI was very helpful! I changed It until everyone was happy, but I will most likely add a personal options to the controls in the future. I was honestly not sure if it was going to function, but it worked well with 9 people :D
I really wish I had the internet to play with you all. Sounds freakin' awesome!
One thing and I know this is probably a pretty silly question but...do you do singleplayer games for map night?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I am largely inactive, but I am still around. Feel free to poke me if you need some help, just be warned that I only really come back if I need help and/or if I'm posting a new map/library.
I did not play all the maps, but here are ones I played. There was about 8 people at one point, but in ended with 4 people round 12:20 were I was. about a 6 hour map night then (and I was burnt after).
•Speed Vikings - it is always great to multiplayer test my game, always find a new bug to fix, first multiplayer map ever so triggers a bit sloppy haha.
•Hungry Hungry Arena - Always an interesting game to play, it reminds me of Angry Angry Templar but with abilities.
•Chu Chu Madness - Not sure the balance on the game, but the train actually won a round haha
•Gnolls VS Trolls - I was eating dinner during this game, most likely a contributing factor why we lost so badly haha, interesting concept, took a bit to get the game and how it worked.
•Insane Civilians - This map brought back memories of the ban game in starcraft brood war, a lulzy map
•Elite Agents - Was testing out a new system, it took a bit to get how it worked, and it is a bit iffy at the moment if I am honest, needs a way to show what is going to happen, or a que up commands visual sequence.
•Sniping:Sniper - always a fun one, but I think I have gotten worse ;)
•1v1 Obs Hots - I steam rolled with a proxy thor rush, nuke rush, and mass scv medevac, then I lost the fourth game to 1 base mass thor after I moved my base and attempted banshee viking and took a secret base next to my opponents secret base and we did not know that we took a secret base.
•TROPISPHERE - this is allot of flashy cool data and trigger, but it needs some massive amounts of polish now, I would almost recommend taking what they have and just polishing it into a workable game.
•Hots Wall Breach - I am not sure what happened but we won apparently in 5 minutes.
•Plan H - epic 1 player, bad dialog trollfest, with occasional epic music along the lines of "void rays" and huskystarcraft. If you are looking for a real game, this is not the game for you.
Lots of updates on Card Shuffle, thanks for everyones feedback.
I'll be there around 8pm GMT
Half hour and map night!
We played soooo many different games, I hope someone kept track of what games we played and in what order :)
@Trieva: Go
unreliable source of maps played. As some maps arent available for public! Or have option to hide that you played the map at all.
@Trieva: Go
I was able to find it in my match history thanks

NA map night just started people! I should be able to join along later depending on how fast I can finish my work :)
Man, half those maps are not even on EU.

I'm going to show my map @US next week, cuz it seems EU ppl didnt like it :D
Haha, Ducky took revenge on the NA guys after I beat him on the EU map night in Blasterbots:D
I really wish I had the internet to play with you all. Sounds freakin' awesome!
One thing and I know this is probably a pretty silly question but...do you do singleplayer games for map night?
@Yaksmanofage: Go
no. why would we do that? Since arcade is based on multiple people enjoying the game maps so we come all to test and have fun there!
This is an awesome idea, I wish I knew about this earlier!
Will see you guys next map night!
map night in 1:15
Don't forget about US mapnight people :D
