We tried to spread the word wherever we could I know I sent emails and made posts on a few but I'm sure most of them heard about it through other sites and Kicktraq and figured if they mark it as a full fledged MMO everyone will go crazy and click on the news page. Or they stopped at the part where it used to be called World of StarCraft. I'm not sure which ones Ryan contacted but we tried to get out there to everyone we could even IGN I believe. Sadly I don't think they made an article :(
I unfortunately have no idea as far as the featured thing. Although I figure it might have something to do with us being featured before they started doing fancy demo videos. Again I'm not in the loop on that but I wouldn't put it past them to feature other past games with videos too. Who knows.

Just some input on it all, I really wish the project the best (it certainly set some interesting precedents) but it could've been handled better.
-Initially is when you get the most attention and this project was unclear if it was legal even, it NEEDED a huge 'blizzard allowed' tag on top
-a clear breakdown of where the 80k goes exactly (which for the record, for a project this scope 80k is really really cheap)
-position the game less of being a sc2 mod, and more a indie game using the engine (similar to ue3 games) since this is much closer to that than 'just a mod'
Hopefully it gets some last minute attention since I do like the idea a lot.
3 people funded 10k $ today... (well, I assume people raised their pledges, if that is possible. I don't see a change in the high pledge reward counts).
If their bnet multiplayer test works out fine, they might be able to do it...
edit:
Eiviyn (below this post), yeah... I missed that...

1) The raised money has a percentage taken from them.
"Kickstarter collects a 5% fee from the project's funding total if a project is successfully funded. Additionally, payment processing fees generally work out to 3-5%. See the payment fees."
So to be honest, Kickstarter makes a profit from you donating to your own project. However, I think I read somewhere that it isn't allowed to fund your own projects.
Donating your own project doesnt really make sense.
Even though at first it seems like a good idea, the purpose of Kickstarter is to get the specified amount of money to be able to continue the project.
It doesnt make much sense to donate a couple thousand $ just so it doesnt fail, since then you are basically still missing money. Its better than nothing but it might not be enough to finish the project.

So you're saying that if SCU gets to 75k-78k with one day left, you'd just let it die?

Depends on how much is missing I guess. 5k missing is quite some money and we are not trying to get rich with this project, we just need the money to continue working on it efficiently. So yes, with 5k or more missing we would probably have to give up.
Unfortunately like Mille said it doesn't really help us to do it. We'd be giving our money for kickstarter to take a split and we wouldn't be making the theoretical $5k so that would leave us short for the project too. Also I'm pretty sure none of us have that much money ha ha. Unfortunately it's not a question of would we let it die because we simply couldn't afford to boost it even if we wanted to.

No worries

ah okay cool, thanks for the info.

There's a new one under 10k. Might be that.
Is there anything to stop a person donating to his own project, to breach the completion status?

no

Can I pledge to my own project?
Pledging to your own project is not allowed by either Kickstarter or our payments partners.
Yes.
Of course, you could circumvent it by donating through a friend or such
