So there's this map I've been working on for a looooooong time, and now that I finally wanna upload it, the editor won't publish it for the sole reason of using Left2Die's dependencies.
But for example, I saw Infested Arena has Chokers and stuff in it, how did that guy make them available?

I just noticed a message in the dependencies window.
"-In order to publish a document to Battle.net, all dependencies must specify a valid published file."
Doeeeees that mean I can somehow upload the dependency to Battle.net?
Mine uses Left2Die mod and I have no problem. I've heard that many people have this same problem. One guy created a copy of that mod so people can avoid this issue, I don't remember the author's name though.

Modify the dependency to use the mod file on battle.net and not the downloaded one.
The error message clearly states that your dependency is using a local file and not the online one. You can only use uploaded mods for your published maps.
Yea but, upon originally using the Battle.net one, it didn't give me any units/sounds/whatever connected to Left 2 Die. Won't this just render my creations invalid? But I'll try.
Did you try it in test mode? This does not connect to the battlenet, so the mod is not available. If you publish the map on Bnet, it should work.
Also, you can select a mod on bnet and additionaly specify a local mod file used when testing.
Yes, I uploaded it to BNet and tested it with the Battle.net L2D mod only. And when you said about specifying a local mod file, you meant for editor testing, right?

I've selected the official L2D dependency for the Battle.net(name) and selected the L2D mod that I downloaded as the local file. Yet it doesn't work...
The Left2Die mod doesn't contain data, only the models and textures used by the map. What I did for my mod was to copy all the data from the map to my mod, and then include the Left2Die dependency. I have no idea why so many people have problems with this one mod, it looks impossible to find a reason.

That's gonna be a bit annoying, but hopefully resolve the problem ._. ...
I forgot that dependencies and mods are infact the same shit.
I am so goddamn stupid.
EDIT: Another prob... The mod is too big, I removed the Terran mercenary related data, since I don't need it, but some stuff is still too big. I noticed though, for example, the Hunterling portrait's emissive texture is 5 MB big O_O. Can I compress this to a smaller size somehow?

I've tried publishing the mod so it recognises it as a Battle.net mod file but it's too big to be published, 33 MB ._.
I have no problems in using the mod, either. When you added the dependency, did you actually connect to the Bnet and select the mod from the list?

And as I assumed, Chokers, Hunterlings, blah blah blah don't appear ingame. They are now those annoying white spheres with 1 HP.

Reviving this for one more probably stupid question:
How do I apply a mod to a map?
Click on file (should be on the top left of the editor)
Go down to dependencies
If you’re adding a built in mod then click “Add Standard”
If you however are adding a local mod or one from battle.net click “Add Other”
Find your desired mod file in the lists
Click “Ok”
you should publish your dependency.. just saying... if you want to play it online :^)
