I'm sorry for this question. But I've seen a decay in the last few months; It's not what it was in WoL.
I understand everybody's agendas and different countries have some influence in this but I wanna know since I've been seeing just a few already known people around but not too many and not many "new guys" around here.
This is not a QQ thread. I'd like everybody here to comment (don't flame me) so we can get a real feeling of how many are here...
Also I've been seeing some cool projects not getting any attention and I believe it has some negative effect on their developers motivation, so I wanna know mostly 'cause I'd like to think they don't get attention because everybody is away and not because the projects are bad.
Sorry for the inconvenience for anyone who read this. Just an honest question.

Obviously, blizz is focused on it's world's domination campaign through ESPORTS... But my question still remains, by just checking on the forums you see almost no one here. Is mapster dying or just the season?
Blizz has failed always in delivering custom mapers and modders the adecuate support (if any), they focus on their "silly" balance (wich imo has led to scrap a lot of units, upgrades, abilities, etc. and diversity to the game) while a lot of maps here have even better balance and of course a lot more units and stuff.
I personnaly come several times every day and read many posts, answer a few. I have some map project I'm working on but life doesn't let me a lot of time to do so :). There's been some projects from other people I would like to be released (delta cadimus (or something like this)'s campaign in example)

Why would esports NOT be their focus? It's an esport game after all.
It's wrong to neglect every other aspect of the game though, obviously.
Fully agree with you and yet even though I am/was a player mostly, I strongly support giving mapmaking also a lot more love than now.
SC2Mapster to me seems very active place, at least I thank those members here who actively help in threads regarding the editor's data, triggers, modeling, anything.
I do not think it is dying when I see threads being bumped down to page 2 in a matter of few days. I observed the same last summer.
@Thunderzak: Go Yeah, me too and like I said, I tend to see a few come in but just the same few wich, like us come around whenever their life let's them. What I mean is there are almost no new guys and projects don't seem to get as much attention as they used to be.
@ScorpSCII: Go I don't think their focus on esports is wrong, (though i do keep my words about scrapping cool stuff "because of balance" they should find other means to do so like many of us do here) is their lack of support to this type of comunity what i dislike.
@Eimtr: Go It's an active place, I've been posting some questions and always got answers so I'm gratefull for that too (specially DrSuperEvil who seems to have a lot of patience with me hehe..) but It seems to me that's only the mods and the guys like us or the guys commited with some current project who log in right now, not random guys like b4.
Theres a lot of information on here from previous threads and the wiki that a lot of my time on here is spent looking at old stuff for insight, checking the new posts of the day takes all of 1 minute. So maybe since most of the information is already here buried in the previous posts we don't seem as active due to fewer new threads??
This is the best / most active sc2 modder community I've come across by far, sometimes i get bored and look to see what else is going on in the sc2mappers world.... and it ain't much IMO.
@ezbeats: Go SC2 Mapster is (by far imo) the best sc2 community, and YES, on anyother communities like this one there ain't much happening lol. But you've got a point on what you said, people here (including me b4 these last weeks) are more like reading old posts for info than making new. I guess that's actually a good answer to my question...

I don't know why people are worried that randoms don't come - what's the point of having someone come, then never come again - even if you had hundreds of these? Isn't it exactly the people who stay here and with the editor - their number to increase?
It's not like I care about them for the page, but they do affect the mappers since by comming here they see what's under development and become potential players.
Anyway, I think my question's been more than answered so I thank you all for your comments.

Eh, it's been worse, and most people seem to be on vacation atm (Mozared came back yesterday, and most other people I know were gone and the others are gonna go in a week or two)
While I do regularly check here, I'm not as active as I used to be :( Mostly just focusing on my project (And even lazy with that...) and I sometimes see an easy question that I quickly answer, but those are becoming rarer and rarer :/
I think I could make a better effort on giving feedback on new projects. From my own experience I know that praise and critisism can give me new perspectives on my maps, and thereby rekindle and refreshen my enthusiasm for mapping. It makes me more productive. I see that campaign projects are very niche and rarely get feedback. The tools for Sc2 campaigns are also lacking, which also contribute to inactivity.
Hehe, I really only came here to share models, because I like making them (though I'm really not that good at it yet...) and I kinda want them to be used. Though I do have a growing interest to start my own map project some time... I check the site daily but mostly just the artist tavern. I doubt that SC2 mapster will ever really die out as long as SC2 is still being actively developed.
I check mapster several times a day. Actually I think I check it too much. Here is the official thread for my main project, and the official threads for my semi-abandoned projects. I also take the time to help with data questions. I think some of us found other ways to communicate and dont need to post here most of their time. I talk to many through skype.
Ohhh and our artist community is great. There are custom models in development all the time, and this is really surprising because more than a year ago that was the most lacking 'profession' around here.
I posted a similar answer in a similar thread a long time ago: As long as we are producing new maps, new art, new stuff in general, we can't say mapster is 'dying'. This is a quiet place, but far from dead.
Apart from the SC2 mapping side diminshing. The main cause IMO is because they never bothered to re-arrange the forum, posting threads about your project has become a complete waste of time here because of the terrible forum layout.
Damn i knew i was using this site too much. ive been seeing alot of new want to be masters over the last couple months, and irc is still lively most of the time.
if you want to improve the website, more noob tutorials i guess
I personally really like that graph, intense traffic spike earlier on, makes me wonder what happened during those traffic spikes. To awnserthe question when I am not posting I am still lurking around here and there, reading posts. I will admit during school my activity went to almost zero, but I contribute to the weekly terraining exercise when I can :) And all my data questions are usually answered within the hour. So as said above, it may be a bit quiet at times to make it seem a bit dead, but it is far from dead.
