For those of you curious about this thread but not "into" melee maps .. sorry i just wasted your time.
This thread was meant to give ideas to mapster melee addicts (yes there might be some..)
And selfishly i'd like to know just how many stand idly by while.. the situation deteriotates (this is my pov, so sue me :^) )...??
So please post if you do like/play custom melee maps, and elaborate about what you think about it...
i total 30 to 40 melee maps (i hope there are at least a decent dozen in there :^p ) since retail.
Most of these melee maps are meant to try out stuff... From the start, they were never tailored for the players per say.. they were made to see what Galaxy was about (within a straightforward melee gameplay).
And this week .. out of .. brrr i hate to think this out loud ..

i made "conservative" maps... "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" [man falls into bottomless pit ...]
It'd be a gross understatement to say i'm not a fan of "less over all you can do"...
There are so many "conservative" "attitudes" that i'm not going to type a huge wall of text about them.. but suffice to say that i got loads of useless crap from presenting quirky untested maps (this aimed for the largest audience: melee players) that showcased stuff that is unconventional (to say the least)!
A few "reactionary stances, just so we are clear:
easy mains
(12minerals and 2 gas.. up on a cliff and big enough to build everything nice and cozy behind the smallest ramp etc...)
expos and layouts that look like photocopies..
layouts that are ludicrously dated and are common "progamers official reactionary rebuttal stance" (as in they laugh :( )
no doodad shenanigans / no terrain quirks / no triggers (teleporters/swamp/etc)
i could go on but this thread is not about this...
Furthermore.. many .. many maps with innovations have been ignored or ridiculed by "high profile community" people...
.. and i don't mind.. really i don't, boring people will be boring! ...
i'm just saddened by the state of things this side of the galaxy and i wanted to get feedback on it
And please, go full out (why wouldn't you?). This thread is all about:
1/ Are melee maps gently ignored on mapster?
2/ Can anything be done to make things better? Is it warranted?
3/ Does untested stuff, custom shenanigans (or other) belong in melee maps and if they don't, what does that say about the community ???

I would like to create melee maps if I had the time for it. I've made one with some nice features imo although it is very ugly.
