I have created a topic on diablo 3 forum. Please read and like it. And may be Blizzard will see it...

This is a suggestion to Blizzard to create a Diablo 3 Editor, such as a Starcraft 2 Editor.
Below a arguments why it should be created:
Blizzard, look on your another child - Starcraft 2. Starcraft 2 would be dead like Diablo 3, if not the Starcraft 2 Editor. How much maps and mods has been created with SC2 Editor? Thousands... Some of them are top quality and they keep the players in the game for years. Without custom melee maps you would have lost all pros players for 1 month... No tournaments, no koreans, no streams, nothing...
Look on other games such as Warcraft 3, Half Life 2, Crysis, Stalker etc. Mods gives to game second life. Thousands of people still playing these games because of them...
I know why Diablo 3 has no Editor. The Diablo 3 team did not have time to make even game and we are still, after a year playing in the beta version. This is sad.
Blizzard already lost 95% of players, but if they will add Diablo 3 Editor in next expansion pack it can be changed...
Give us Diablo 3 Editor and you will see power of community content...
If you like this idea, please like my post. Thanks.
I'm sorry, I read it but just couldn't bring myself to like another "your creations suck, your company is dying" post, seen to many of those, can't differ anymore.
Wont happen. Its not even easy to package the tools they used in some sort of compact(and easy to understand/use) editor for the general public.
Would be a waste of company time and resources and its doubtful the community would be able to use it to any great or meaningful use.
I had many talks about this with Blizzard, ultimately they decided not to go with an editor for various reasons. We conducted some interviews and posted them on DiabloFans in the news late in 2011.

This hasn't stopped people from modding many games in the past.
It would be nice, but not practical. I would like to see an editor for pretty much every game there is. But that simply won't happen. Imagine how amazing a WoW editor would be. And that's just Blizzard games. The list goes on and on of what games would be awesome to have an editor. Imagine how much better CoD or Halo would be with a powerful editor, and arcade games? But no, it simply doesn't make sense.
As a programmer, I can't even imagine how much extra time it took Blizzard to package up all of their code into a GUI (Triggers), and then have it relate to the Data Editor. To be able to potentially create a mod as powerful as some of the SC2 arcade games without writing a SINGLE line of code is incredible.
I don't get the point of this. I haven't played a lot of Diablo, so I might be missing it. Doesn't it have to be completely disconnected from any normal diablo play? (To prevent creating OP items and whatnot) It would be like a kind of "Arcade" for Diablo.
In that case, what would be the difference between the SC2 editor and the Diablo editor? Different engines? The difference in engines feels negligible. Different graphics and a couple of mechanical differences that can most likely be replicated in the SC2 editor.
In SC2 it was easier because they had no modern game with an editor and they used the editor for making the campaigns and such(as far as I know). Releasing a similar editor for Diablo when they don't have a good basis to start with seems like a great waste of time. Why waste time and effort on making a similar editor? I feel like the time should rather be used to improve the SC2 editor.
Edit: After some consideration, I realize that custom Diablo content is something that many would consider worthwhile. I wasn't thinking of custom diablo content but rather custom arcade maps on the Diablo engine. I'd still rather have them improve the SC2 editor though but it's a matter of preference.
Honestly, what I would much rather see, though doubt Blizzard will do, would be to nicely package up most of the models and textures from Diablo 3 into a Starcraft 2 dependency for us to use.

And sound assets don't forget those too! Would be amazing $_$. One can dream....

I like that a lot. It would be much easier to make a medieval themed map with even just the models.
Curious though. couldn't someone make a D3 model viewer like what was done with the WoW Model Viewer?
Diablo 2 is still alive thanks to mods like Median XL, Eastern Sun and others. There are people who play D2 in b.net even in these days, and it's a game released 13 years ago. Will Diablo 3 be played in next 12 years? No way! In less than 2-3 months D3 lost thousands and thousands of players (including myself) and this time when an expansion set will be released I'm sure this time people don't buy it with closed eyes like they did on D3. Blizzard will never make a D3 editor unfortunately.

Not if Blizz made their own maps until they got smth ppl liked and left the editor private - only by Blizzard - then esports would still go the same way as now... Like, so far the maps are like that, originally Blizz maps modified - GSL, etc. I really dk who the original creators are but since Blizz introduce them, idk any Ladder maps due to say someone frm here making them.
^ But yeah modding D3 would bring some interest in it, Eastern Sun was indeed smth nice to try for a change.
^ Exactly SC1 with how long esports last there? I don't think it would be dead, idk how big the maps community was but esports would've been untouched, and esports in SC2 could remain untouched even if SC2 had no editor. But if that happened, it would be without part of the community, in RTS that doeasn't matter fwhen you use the game for melee. In D3 since there's no esports.. well sure if you don't compete you are certain to lose interest if they dont add some mod.

Making up statistics and baseless assumptions is a great way to get your point ignored.

D3 is far from dead.

Be happy we have what we have.
Great to be back and part of the community again!
Also if there was an editor people would make rooms full of gold and other things that would mess up the auction house.

No. We don't want the PS3 players to rage.

Starcraft 1 had TONS of custom maps and TONS of custom campaigns. Think SC1 with no custom contents....would have been forgotten after sometime.
