Remember back in the SC I days where there were those "Sexy" maps? The ones where you had a team of players that helped you complete challenges to unlock more of the minimap because the minimap showed a "Sexy picture."
With SC II, minimap pictures are tons easier, so I was thinking of recreating one of these maps. Would making a map with a minimap "Sexy" picture violate the TOS and get me banned?

Sexy = nude or almost nude, ie. bikini chick.
Yes it would get your map banned, more than likely your account too if I had to say so.
ic, ic... hmmm, I still want to make a map of this style tho.
What in you guys' opinion would make for a good picture that you would really want to see. Make the map worth retrying till you finally got the whole pic?
I don't think your account would get banned, there have been other incidents where maps have been banned or suspended pending modifications. But I think you should know in advance that yes, your map will be reported and banned.
If we want real "sexy" pictures there's the internet and real life girls waiting for us. At least waiting for me.
yea anyone can and could, but the point was to get the picture by beating the map... that's the only reason people played. any1 can search the internet or chek out their chick for it, but the picture must've been worth at least a little something enticing since the map was so popular.
But I figure I'll see how else I can play with the minimap since I still want to keep the general concept.
edit: & ty Sixen.
Also, can't wait for the next DIIICast ;D
I don't get these... If I want to go look up a *dirty picture* I can head over to good old google and find one within 5 seconds. Why the heck would I play a starcraft 2 map to see that?
And yes, the map would be banned in an instant, most likely your account as well. The amount of tracking blizzard can do is creazy. In sc1, everything was client-side. Meaning you didn't have to upload maps to blizzard, you just send the maps to your fiends to play. But now blizzard can pull up a sheet showing everything you have ever done in any blizzard game.
And blizzard cares about the map more than you would think. One of the first TD's was banned because...no kidding here.... the units on the minimap formed the swastika... So be careful there.
Also, to avoid the confusion that happened in our last "sexy map" thread...Regardless of Blizzard's regulations, if anybody postsany pictures of something like this, I will take care of you personally. You have been warned.

Dirty pictures tend to grab attention of mostly immature starctaft playerbase, so that's what they remember map for.
These maps usually had pretty good gameplay. They were kind of "Impossible Scenario" map. There were 5-6 players and each player had one specific role only he could do. Map was heavily based around teamwork and knowing your abilities. Everyone was useful and needed. One death and you had to replay map all over again. The further you reached, the more you unlocked of picture. You were given a reward for beating area. I think it's the same kind of craze as achievements today are. And again, most of b-net population playing these maps seemed to be 12 y.o. kids.. so yeah.. dirty pictures..
The difference between then and now, as has been mentioned previously, is that Blizzard didn't expect a lot from their custom maps in SC1, and they couldn't really do anything about the maps that were hosted there and in WC3.
They designed Battle.net 2.0 with this in mind, now they have full control over all maps that go in and out of Battle.net, and they did that so that they can prevent such maps from popping up, since SC2 isn't an 18+ game.
But by all means, do create your map, I believe there is a niche audience for that kind of map (otherwise the old maps like that would never have been played), but you'll have a harder time to get it out to that audience.

Jump down off your high horse no one's posting random pictures on an SC II forum.. no one cares enough to waste the time.
But yes, as Duck said the picture was a reward for completing the 'impossible scenario.' I still plan to recreate this type of game, but with a different (not so bannable) picture to play for.
Wasn't there an "anime viewer" map or something during beta? I don't think that got banned, and given the half naked, borderline paedophilic nature of most anime pictures, it probably passes as desirable to some.

Why would I care about beating a map for a picture that isn't worth it? You spend hours unlocking a single worthless picture or you can spend 15s, type out exactly what you want in google and find entire videos of it.
Your audience isn't the 18+ crowd (those that can legally view such images) because they already know they have a plethora of options. Your audience is the <18 crowd given that they'd rather play a game that shows an image without it showing up in their browser history. In other words, your map is being made for an audience that isn't legally allowed to look at it.
facepalm@ a lot of posts.
It is just fun to unlock something on the mini-map if its a defense game or something like that.
Even if you can just look it up on the internet, it is fun to get a glimpse of it wave by wave.
I can understand why you don't get how someone would like to play something like that, but as an example there was Tank Defense in SC1, which was really fun and popular. Even if the picture of a pussy you unlocked was totally not worth it lol.

@iE4TM4PS: GoMaybe you are unaware of this, but I'm a mod. This is part of my job. And it's happened before. So next time, think before you speak.
I'm very aware of your orange name.. it's nearly impossible to miss.. yet I still posted? Think before you speak.
& @ ProzaicMuze... It's sad you hadn't read through my other posts. I looked up to you as a person who takes the time (basing this off of your great tutorials and clever data work). I guess you failed to notice that I AM NOT going in the direction of ecchi anymore, but towards some other picture-esque reward that would be worth trying so hard to beat the map.. aside from those just wanting to complete a challenge.
Since this thread is obviously not going the direction it was originally intended for, I am locking it. I do thank those of you with constructive ideas that helped me sway the map towards it's new direction.

ic, ic... so how did those old maps get up back in SC I? Did Blizz just not care?
they didn't have good tools, now in bnet 2.0 its easy, there is an report feature
