Not sure if anyone would be interested in this read, but I found a link to a scientific study about which Starcraft 2 race would come out at the top in a prolonged war (?) in the Korprulu sector. The study was done by running simulations of the colonization and conquest of Korprulu by 6 factions (2 T, Z and P) which use either micro or macro strategies. To what I understand, these are somewhat based off data acquired from the results of matches played on a professional level.
I think those people did not take into account that the Swarm is basically endless, adopts anything it can and infests entire worlds in mere days. Oh well, still quite interesting idea to work on :)
I believe that in a short war, the Protoss would win because of their natural ability to channel the Khala, and their far superior technology and firepower. The Protoss are incredibly underhanded in-game. They are easily the most power race in a short scale (100 years) war. However, in a prolonged war, the Zerg would probably eventually win after they have mutated enough species into the swarm to overcome the Protoss, this would likely take a while, but it would be possible if the Protoss did not destroy them first.
It's funny, I was thinking that the entire weakness of the swarm is that they're restricted from being the no-holds-bar-kill-everything-that-moves predators that they true are supposed to be due to their internal "management" issues. Then I remember the prophecy that kerrigan shouldn't be killed or the world would end.
I wonder how did the population grow so much, when the first ships arrived, they had many but now the planets - Moria and such have at least billions of people. Maybe that's why they are considered to dominate, .. well Terran ftw!
In reality protoss would be the strongest, their Scouts have Dual photon blasters and Antimatter missiles. It's very ironic that they have both the weakest and the strongest weapons. If antimatter collides with matter an explosion will occur with 100% energy conversion, it's 100 times stronger than a hydrogen bomb I think. There is no stronger weapon known to man. A photon blaster is basically a flashlight.
The Protoss have the problem that while they have quite some firepower, they'd have to glass every planet in the universe to get rid of the Zerg. Meaning nothing left for them to survive on. Terrans are probably the ones that would lose an all out war first, but not without dealing quite some damage to the other races. Though Arcturus would've probably had to be in power for this. He is a man with no moral holding him back, compared to his son.
It would lead to some small terran groups surviving in the long run until they suddenly get eaten or turned to glass. Problem is that Zerg quickly can basically devour entire planets in a day or two and a single drone is usually enough for them to mutate a Hatchery. Undetected, that is trouble without end. There is also the issue of Kerrigan knowing where Shakuras is. If the Protoss move their fleet away from the planet, they could come back to find the planet entirely destroyed by a massive Zerg invasion.
All in all it would probably end up with either the Protoss glassing every planet and the Zerg losing or the Protoss being overrun by the Zerg. There is no good outcome to this.

Warning: It's a long read.

tl; dr; Terran's who micro had the best chances of survival and expansion.
Funny conclusion with Terrans.

scientists say that strongest race is asians
