Heroes of the Storm focuses on PvE mechanic and diversity on maps, the full meaning of the game is True team game, not lone wolf gameplay, or you cooperate or you are screwed, it for sure doesn't want to use the same map for 14 years or be a retarded WarCraft 3 wannabe :D (Lol valve game even has wc3 minigames that uses ported wc3 assets XDDDDDDD GG VALVE!)
The point is team fights are not epic, the skill synergy within a one given hero skill set is poor and performs not good enought to inflict a critical impact on a team battle.
The point is it doesn't realy matter the order in which you press buttons of your common skills, even if you missplayed you're not getting punished hard. The pathing and movement control is poor. In Dota the movement speed is one of the most critical factors, and the right positioning of your hero and movement you do in between times you pressing your skills or attacks is very important and is the whole new science basicaly.
In short heroes in storm feels in control more like overpowered bunch of creeps. The rat race which showing heroes while trying to perform something should called "team battle" is so annoying that i just want to anihilate that garbage with Earthshaker&dagger&kreygasm immediately, when i watching the HotS game videos.
The popularity of HotS is pretty much speaks for itself. The 300k views for a hero spotlights vs 1.5m in league of legends. On twitch there are 90+ thousands viewers for LoL vs 30-40 for D2 vs 3-5 for HotS. And half of that sophisticated players just there to look and play with the awesome characters they love since wc d3 or sc. Remove them and this game has literaly nothing.
Maybe someone in Blizz thought that creep camps would be "genius". As they present for now they're not. The creeps must have some utility spells and follow the hero which slain them (for example) to be somewhat useful at least. Right now it's just pathetic substitution for the classic hero item builds.
I swear when i first saw the Blizzard Dota map for sc2 at blizzcon 2011 i thought it would be a blast and it would be if they continued in that direction (with items, etc.) and didnt turn the map with an actual gameplay to the modeller's demo reel.
Just compare this epic amazing Muradin's Storm Hammer from 2011 to the THING that they did in current hots:
The skill cap is lower on hots, i got i and i hate too the slow-Motion movement of the heroes, but the success of heroes is his differentiation from the dota 1 copypaste called dota 2 and lol, the higher success of Dota 2 and lol is because they are older, heroes came far too late when all the "market" was already taken and is way harder that fans/fanboys from The other games would come to heroes, do you know what would happened if heroes had the same system of dota ? No one would have cared and the game would have been dead after six months, just look at the other clones for example... As I said is another playstyle, I agree they dumbed it a bit too much, but talking of no positioning is dumb, there's actually positioning, it's only everything more slow and easy, and with no need to farm lanes all the game to don't have your support underleveled, at high level there's more skill of what you think.
For armor butt shaped armor I've already complained on hots forums, and I just pretend that under the black cloth there's armor, otherwise her spine would torn itself after few seconds... Butcher ass is sexy, even better Stitches one, I definitely don't vomit while watching it...
PROPER LEVEL OF DETAIL FOR A MOBA? Are you serious? That low poly thing is better of hots Sylvanas ??? How less polygons are better ? Are you still on the WarCraft 3 nostalgic side ? I'm not and I love high poly models, especially on the shop and I love to see this engine rape the lol and dota 2 one... Do I have to post again the hots/dota model comparison ? ;)
Well on the Moba market is a success, it is on the level of smite, I repeat on a monopolized market these numbers are a success... I don't mind if you hate it
Also, I generally have to agree with the sentiment of Ghost Nova. SC2 feels, in both visuals and SOUND waaaay less unique and inspired than SC1.
However, I have to say I like the armor of Artanis, I think its a great and very Protossy design. I dont think it feels all that warcrafty, it feels like a mix between technological advancements and cultural sophistication, which suits Protoss imo very well.
Overall, I think the cinematic design of SC2 is far superior to the ingame design. I think all the cinematic Protoss models feel very protossy and starcrafty, while the ingame protoss design.. is horrible.
Hey GhostNova what do you think about these Zerg models from heroes of
The storm ? I want to know your idea because you are one of the most expert of modeling here
I love these models, maybe too much violet but still great models, especially because I simply don't care about sprites that I can barely understand what they represent or design ripped off from Tyranids like the Ultralisk from sc1 aka Carnifex with two less blades... It's a matter of tastes i thing, I agree only on the design a bit less "fleshy" :)
tell me also how In your eyes sc1 hydra and ling are better of sc2 hydra and ling despite they looks exactly like this http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Ravener and this http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Gaunt ? Why the hydra looks like A dragon ( I don't really see this somigliance with a dragon...), I prefer the sc2 hydra, more massive, I can easily see it tear apart a sc1 hydra without problems... And it was designed by Samwise, same for zergling and Ultralisk, Samwise aka God XD
I dont hate it just i think this game is a pale shade of what it could be and what i should love (and what a lot of hardcore wc3 dota 1 players expected from blizzard-official-dream-dota-map-everyone-like-throw-money-type-of-shit-ya-know).
The effectiveness of a game design just realy highlighted in a Hearthstone. The guy did it is just a game-design genius. Again, i agree the art did a lot of job there too but in terms of humanpower cost / fun / profit its just like 100% compared to HotS 10%.
They certainly look better than the SC2 ones but I still prefer the original design. Looking at the the Ravener in my opinion looks closer to the SC2 Hydra but I see what you mean with the Gaunt. I'm fine with it though. One of the things I think of when I see original Zerg are the locusts from a Bug's Life. Now the zergling resembles a wolf like beast, and the Hydra went from a freak slug thing to a massive behemoth Diablo monster. The Zerg look cool now when they are supposed to make you sick. I guess that's my point.
Same with the Protoss body design. They used to resemble creepy high tech aliens and their skin reminded me of greys and aliens that fly UFOs. Now Artanis should be in a steroids commercial. Yes they look cooler. They aren't supposed to though.
As far as dragon I was referring to Zurvan. In my opinion the Primal Zerg design was abismal.
Excellent point. I forgot to mention that I was very pleased with the opening cinematic zealots.
With cinematic, I should clarify I meant everything that concerns the story-mode cinematics, aswell as CGI cinematics. With ingame designs I mean stuff like the actual units and buildings.
So in few words sc1 zerg are sick/disgusting and sc2 ones are cool/reptilans ... Got it
Artanis the Gym Trainer skin PLZ BLIZZARD!
The Hydra doesn't look like a Diablo Montserrat imho, and i have my GhostNova Demon Hunter near to level 500 paragon, Maybe they look a bit like Duriel, the lord of pain
The Primal Zerg has a cool design, but they totally don't fit the StarCraft Universe, i expect lady Vashj to jump out every time I play zerus missions... Too sad now the Zerg race is leaded by Zagara/Warchief Thrall and they are basically the orcs from WC3
I don't think they got her as an arcane mage, it's different the WoW arcane mage from a Diablo 3 wizard. And what you see on hots is only a fraction of what a wizard can do, there are meteors (the actual meta) wizard, time bubble wizard, tornado wizard, elemental wizard, the orb is basically the same from Diablo 2... She is not a WoW arcane Mage, is a Diablo 3 wizard, if we will have an arcane Mage it will be the dumbass Milhouse Manastorn (yeah the one of the Jaraxxus meme) or the badass Medivh
The Zerg look cool now when they are supposed to make you sick.
Same with the Protoss body design. They used to resemble creepy high tech aliens and their skin reminded me of greys and aliens that fly UFOs. Now Artanis should be in a steroids commercial. Yes they look cooler. They aren't supposed to though.
I agree wholeheartedly with you here and I think the game would've been better had it kept that style of art. However these days that's not the trend for mainstream video games and movies. People go for the "cooler" design that blizzard currently employs, and obviously blizzard is trying to sell their games as much as possible. If the graphics catch the consumer's eye then that's what they shoot for. I think if they had continued along the more bleak path with the game it would have more of a cult following and wouldn't have the same access it has to the large league pool they have now.
I prefer this style over the WH40K knock off that was sc1 under some circumstances... Hydralisk? SC1 Marine? Zergling? Do you remember?
That's up to you.
I HATE SC2's art direction where everything looks like a "SAFE FOR KIDS" plastic toy.
The Zerg are just boring in design, the Protoss look nothing like themselves and the Terrans are too cartoonish in proportions and colors (not Team colors)
Look at what uncle DefilerRulez found on the deep seas of the internet http://www.cgmeetup.net/home/zbrush-character-creation-process-from-blizzard/
SC1 Ultralisk can suck my XXXX
SC1 Zeratul and Raziel born with almost the same aspect and that's good, but SC2 Zeratul is more badass, even if the nipples and human muscles are a bit eccessive :D
Praise the Samwise! And the Phillip Gonzales... Also the MrJack
As much as some valid points are raised, y'all need to lay off the conspiracy acid and stop thinking Blizzard is simply "selling out" with HotS being a bland, graphicless game with shitty gameplay. There's a shitload more to it than your elitist "that is what the plebs want so Blizzard is simply dumbing everything down for them". Judgement is easy.

Ur right, especially the complain about mercenaries "they simply walks on lanes" demonstrated a rushed statement from someone that played it for like 5 minutes "omfg it sucks, better going back to the game i played thousands of times and i know everything about it instead of analyze this new game a bit longer"... There's A LOT of tactic (believe it or not) under taking mercenaries or not, for example you can pick them for a push, a counter push, to keep a lane busy and force someone out of a team fight in order to don't lose a tower... Mindless take of mercenaries for the pure exp is a noob mistake and basically a waste of time
He told it "Elitist"! Hurray!

There is no "hots success" unfortunately. That game already smells lol

It should be noted that the ultralisk looks more like a carnifex now than it did before.
Go play Antioch Chronicles Remastered!
Also, coming soon, Antioch Episode 3: Thoughts in Chaos!
Dont like mapster's ugly white? Try Mapster's Classic Skin!
Just for the 4 blades, the tryceratops look differentiate it from the carnifex
