I've been working on a Tower Defense (Bubbles' Tower Defense) for the past 6 days (almost into beta, where i just have to balance-test). Before this i'd never touched the editor, so i've learned a LOT but still, theres a LOT more that i don't know.
I was telling my cousin about the TD i'm making and he asked if I could make a drag-racing game and said he'd give me $100 if i did. So would a drag racing game be able to be pulled off? Also, when the game itself comes out will i be able to import models from 3ds max into it? That way instead of racing hellions i can race actual cars lol
mmh... i would say yes it's possible. moving "cars" with wasd has already been done in many maps... changing speed attribute too if wasd keys are pressed should be possible, but i wonder if it can work smooth enough to enjoy the experience...
the trick to this would be the gear shifting. just making a dialog that goes up to 'redline' then acts appropriately when tyou shift gears depending on the rpms etc.... i dont know the actualym ath behind it but that seems easy enough. it would be sweet to make a 'clutch' button you had to use while shifting and such.... haha...
press "q" to clutch and "e" and "c" to upshift / downshift (but who the hell owuld downshift in a drag racing game?)
To say a dragracing game is pretty unspecific. You could throw together a simplistic NES style racing game in a night. A game with physics and tuning as complicated as say... Forza 3.. would take considerably longer. I imagine it's possible though.

And it's certainly possible, but making a proper drag-racing will require a lot of math and physics.

You would really get 100 bucks?
Well yeah it would probably take a couple years.. but you could pull it off [jk]. It seems very complicated..
