I can't help but notice this thread, it is a really good idea.
Is it a project looking for someone to adopt it?
I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes but I definitely see how this could get through to the community at large. Really a fantastic idea, but it was not pushed hard enough, could have proceeded from concept to execution quite a bit faster than what happened.
I think the SC2Mapster community isn't large enough to have a map chosen every week. Instead, there should be map of the month. A month should be plenty of time to have a couple of interesting maps released.

this.
And I can help with pushing up maps. I am working on a publishable project right now, but it needs a little more content to be worthy imho. I also have enough confidence in my timetable to allow for timely publishes if we need some person for that still (EU).
When Map of the Week was created, we were more motivated to make maps. The community lost some of the mappers that were too frustrated with the pop. system. Sadly, this project didn't start as we planned, but it did a beautiful role of showing Blizzard that something wasn't right. Perhaps THIS helped motivating them to fix the popularity system since they are now implementing many of our original ideas. I personally think that now with this new popularity system coming, there will be no need for the Map of the Week anymore. But, we must see first to believe, right? :)
HE'S NOT!!!! I JUST KILLED HIM!!!

Woah, still all talking and no MOTW? It's looking like the Blizzard crushed the spirits of the map making community.

I saw on my facebook that picture but there was no one on and it was 20 minutes after it was posted.
There was a gameplay video posted of my map (Factory Ships) recently.
The map is up on all regions, and there is a feedback thread still active for it in the feedback subforum.
Is this ever happening again ? 2013 or 2014?
