In addition to posting maps, you should try and get a sticky on the Blizz SC2 forums as well. Post the same [Official] thread and we can all vote it up. Perhaps they'll get the idea before we have to go through all this work and do it themselves.
This would be a good idea if you would just pick a map and play it.
I dont understand all these limitations, it doesnt even help the actual map because you have to upload a diff version of your map just for map of the week while your original map still isnt being played lol
The point is Exposure. I have heard your argument postured a few times. Now, I understand the average person isn't too bright but the thing is, this argument assumes that people won't even be able to:
A: Figure out that the Map of the Week changes
B: Find the actual name of the Current Map of the Week
C: Search for that name and bookmark it using the provided features.
The problem with the current system that we are trying to resolve is that people don't feel like scrolling through 10+ pages to find something decent to play. They don't want to spend their time finding new things and trying them out. This will take all that out of the equation. Put NEW MAPS on page 1 for people to try, and if they like them, they can find them again when it's posted under the normal name.
This concept doesn't seem to far out there to me...Why is it that some people just aren't getting it? Makes me thing some people just want to have something to argue with.

Category should be genre (TD, Tug of War, Mele...) and map name should be at the description.
Loading screen should have a template with MotW design so all MotW look partially the same.
F12 should have a history of all MotW maps.
As the Fun or Not, there's no plan on having a specific category. If we do, people might get confused since the map will change category every week. The category will be SC2Mapster (custom), so the players will always know where to find the map (instead of having to search for the map in each category every week). Also, the loading screen is something really personal of the mapper. I'm trying to reduce the amount of work of the publisher. They already have a lot of work to do, and to change loading screen (or at least check them) seems a lot of work. It's not just 1 map, but dozens! Loading screen is part of the design of the map. Some mappers use the loading screen to teach how to play the map. If the mapper wants to change it, it's up to them. Publishers won't check. And yes, there will be some info when the user presses F12 (the trigger is on the OP).
Publisher should better give us his tip trigger so we can properly add it to our maps.
It's on the OP. Feel free to open it and make your comments. If you change something, attach the changes on your post for the community to see and approve.
Let me see if i can improve that there map. I assume It will be a library when where done, but that makes using custom images hard :(
Let's avoid custom images because it's a way too much work for too little! For 1 map is simple, but having to import a custom image for dozens of maps is too much extra work. We're trying to make it as simple as we can (copy and paste and it's done). :)
Isn't it a little early to be advertising elsewhere? I mean, the project isn't even live yet. By telling people about it before it's finalized, it'll numb the actual release.
While I don't agree, I can post it on EU if you want.
While we still deciding who will be the publisher, I've published a blank (and PRIVATE) version of the map to prevent trolls from stealing our map's name (cough... Mephs' Left 2 Die... cough...). We don't want someone stealing our map name after a lot of advertisement.
If its so important to keep it easy for them, why do the publishers have to do the modification and not the authors? Of coarse at this stage I have no way of knowing if this will ever be successful, but a win/loss record thing would be good if the thing was to get popular. Maybe even a rewards an- eeer nevermind.
HERE. TAKE IT.
EDIT: Just to explain, like an extra "map of the week" UI that shows... well like your debates leaderboard.... kinda

I appreciate your effort, but this trigger isn't going to work in a lot of maps. Some maps have already a whole initialization set that cannot be delayed. They have banks to be loaded, etc. Look at Hindrance Wars for example, with the noob alert on the intro. If you add this trigger, it will mess up with the intro alert completly, and even if you set the alert after this trigger, you have to redo at least 10 initialization triggers that are spread on the map (such as the tips that won't be synchronized with the events anymore). The publisher (or the map maker) would have to read every single trigger to see what has to be delayed, and that's a waaaay to much work for a simple "SC2Mapster presents"
Also, lots of maps use an "After X seconds" event on triggers that are synchronized to other triggers. They will all have to be delayed just to add this trigger. So pretty much, for a map to join the Map of the Week program, it would have to redo a lot of triggers just to fit this intro. And people always screw up. I don't even need to mention other problems, like maps that must change or hide the UI on initialization, such as Mafia and Debates.
And you didn't test that in windowed mode (text problem).
Please, lets keep something simple. The user sends a map the way it is, the publisher copies and paste a trigger, and it's done! We don't want the user to have to review all the triggers in his map to see if the new trigger won't break anything and we don't want the publisher to double check the user's work to make sure he didn't screw up. =/
More simple it is, more map makers will send their maps to the project. Just the fact that the mapper has to open and edit his map would make us lose a LOT of maps. Right now, the mapper doesn't even need to open his map. He just have to send it to the publisher the way it is!
I support this.

Is the trigger going to cause the featured map to spam all its players into playing Rodrigo maps?
Kidding, I submit my map, Battle Planets.
http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/player-zone/map-feedback/20038-battle-planets-beta-release/#posts
This sounds like a great idea!
I'd like to submit my map, Zone Control Ultra. I just made sure the most recent version is out there.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. :)

Could we make a page that we could link non mappers to that explains it? Just a tl thread and and official forum thread.

I'm used to change the mode of my maps (as you can see on the image below my post) and the popularity haven't changed. :)

If you don't mind,
I'll submit WW2 Diplo to this project.
Map mode will be the more complex diplomacy mode.
I'll also help promote it on NA, but I will need some info as to the times to play these maps.
FockeWulf.178 NA

Rofl.
But I thought when you delete a map the name is still claimed, is this not true?
BTW Im making an awesome library for map of the week. You will hate it.
Nope, if you delete a map, someone can steal the name. And please, think of the publishers and the amount of work they will have to do.
