So...this is odd. I no longer have a unit selection palette. There's a big empty space where I'd expect it toe be. It's still there for doodads, just not for units.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I already unistalled/reinstalled.
Have you tried hiding and showing again the palette? (View -> show UI -> show palete)
As a more extreme measure, if you're working in windows, you can delete the "windows" folder in regedit under HKEY_CURENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\Starcraft II Editor.
You should look for a similar folder/file under "/Library/Application Support/Blizzard" if you're running the editor in a mac (the file with the issue might be variables.txt in this case).
You should make backups before deleting those files.
Unfortunately, none of these ideas worked. Nor did deleting the entire Blizzard folder in application support, nor did deleting every other Starcraft II folder I could find. Anyone have other ideas? :-(
Don't know if it is "mac only" "third word country problem" "no one cares" issue,
but it sure tastes like it!
After a lot of tearing my hair out (reinstalling/updating/emailing blizzard to no avail blabla) I resolved to use the data module:
Select a unit / right click on unit / select in palette (this switches to the terrain editor with your unit selected)
(i used a pc to get units on a map until i got this method)
This went on for a year or so
.. at one point i got fed up and went into the "console module" (it was in the middle of the nite :D and i was pissed off) and i spent hours trying to "refresh" the UI of galaxy modules (wanting to make it work)...
drum roll .. suspense ... I made it! my unit palette worked perfectly again!
(don't know how i did it .. maybe after 3 years of no unit palette, the dude at blizz thought it wouldn't be enough to stop me.. whatever)
.. i got it back <3
.. then i checked .. and since my fix :
i have no more doodad palette :D ha ha (not)
good luck
...
ps: (AGAIN: this is a BUG never fixed by Blizzard that told me to get lost when i reported it <3 (probably all my fault, my computer's fault .. a bug that never will be fixed or that is so easy to fix that no one bothered to help me with it..
THIS IS NOT A MAP ERROR this is an APP ERROR
whatever ... )
pps: i was convinced that it was a display/graphic driver/display level in editor/in os' inconsistency and i switched the graphics levels on my preferences (in both sc2editor and os') and i was in the console hitting the fix+/repair blabla console with orders i don't remember .. you have to display the command prompt (type help or whatever) and try as hard as i did apparently to force a "refresh of sorts that "re displays" the proper "window" .. but AGAIN i did f ck up the doodad palette in the process and i miss it a lot now (doodads are not as easily selectable/viewable from the data module!!!)
The bug only happens when you actually input stuff, when you use the editor (perhaps "through misuse") (video/shadders preferences applied/changed with something it can't display ?!)
i also have my "shades" outdated ..., so it might be "linked" / dunno/don't care anymore (too late)
The bnet interconnectivity agent is probably involved [sigh]
.. but reinstalling or upgrading OS wont help your mac with the lost tab regain it (admittedly my comp is old 8+years whatever and i am the worst galaxy user .. but i don't think capitan will help :D )
...
Again, i have been asking for years for a way/function to refresh galaxy tabs UI and get this working again
to no avail [sigh]
(yes i reinstalled twice during hots and made "new maps", open other people s or blizz's maps and tried many/any fixes i was advised or found)
missing palette bug (look it up on mapster.. you ll find my thread unanswered)
here's hoping you do and be nice enough to tell me how :D

Load up someone else's map that you haven't touched and see if that fixes it.

Check out my kitbashes! Custom Campaign Initiative: Lots of great Custom Campaigns!! Check out and Support!!
Hmm there was a time I couldn't see any regions in the list, and only regions. Units and doodads were fine.

Hi.. i had that for a long time (years) on mac.

again good luck, ask more if applicable :)
Well, it's not universal to all Macs—I installed it on another machine and the editor works fine. I'll look into the console...
