Also, I'm noticing sporadic changes in loading times, I'm assuming depending on whether the data has been stored in RAM/Cache already (multiple tests).
Results:
"Mothership" test: 2.5 seconds
"Ghost" test: ~ 5-6 seconds (Which is fast, I've had it load in 10 seconds before)
Specs:
AMD FX 8150 CPU
Radeon 7970 GPU (Sapphire)
8gb 1866mhz RAM
Windows 7 (64 bit)
Kingston HyperX 3K 240gb SSD
I'm running the editor off an ssd and both of these tests take me 1-2 seconds.
Specs:
Intel i5 760 oc''d @ 3.25Ghz
Sapphire Radeon 5750 1GB
Win 8 x64
8GB RAM 1333 Mhz
Samsung ssd 480 128GB
Did your test though. Opening the events section for the Mothership happened literally instantly, in less than a second. Loading 'ghost' afterwards took about 2.5 seconds.
Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Windows 7 (64-bits), ATI Radeon HD 5700 Video card with a Samsung HD103 hard disk.
Not really running any processes that could interfere with the loading. There's some background stuff like Skype, Comodo Firewall, Hamachi, Steam and Dropbox, but nothing serious. Oh, and of course Google Chrome with this page open.
Still trying to find a relationship between specs and load time. Just posted my results above... I fail to see what could be causing the editor to run so slowly.
1) How long it takes to open the Events section Next, do the following.
1 second.
I'm not sure how long it really takes because Windows plays an animation to make it look smooth instead of displaying the new window without delay.
1) Erase everything from the Actor search bar, so everything is being shown.
2) Type the word "ghost", and see how long it takes to load the information. Lastly, post the specs of your computer
After typing the last letter in ghost, you need to wait like 2 seconds before the search is started. It is finished after approx 0.25 seconds (list of names are displayed first. then the meta-information of the actor is updated in the list). You can skip this timer by pressing enter.
- HotS beta editor
- hard disc is slow (no ssd)
- 3ghz @4 cores
- my tab-bloated browser was maximized during this tests
Also, what is that? Disabled Combine Structure Values?
I have the combine structure values enabled and use the table view in addition to the slow object explorer including the "explain link" panel.
IMPORTANT TEST:
1) Open up a new map file.
2) Make sure only the Data tab is open. Then go to the actors tab.
3) Type in "Mothership"
4) Make sure "Show Advanced Values" and "Combine Structure Values" are selected.
5) Double click the "Events" section.
Record the following:
1) How long it takes to open the Events section
Next, do the following.
1) Erase everything from the Actor search bar, so everything is being shown.
2) Type the word "ghost", and see how long it takes to load the information.
Lastly, post the specs of your computer
and if there is anything that might be affecting the results (full hard drive space, running other programs, bloatware, etc)
Thanks to everyone who participates. I'm going to test mine now.
NOTE: Estimating in seconds is fine, just try and use a clock or timer to record so that it's semi-accurate. Thanks.
Great to be back and part of the community again!

edit:
Wol's 1.5.4 editor has a comparable speed.
@Ahli634: Go
Updated to make it more clear.
@Mozared: Go
I wonder exactly how many times you have had the editor open without the terrain tab?
Great to be back and part of the community again!
I just tried to do the Mothership test and my Editor crashed while it was loading the Actor (I didn't even get to the Events field).
What the fuck.
I think this was the second time. The other time was probably by accident.
it's pretty much instantaneous for me.
i get some slowdown while typing in the search bar (words appear at intervals rather than as i type).
my PC is insane however.
i7 3820 CPU
16gb DDR3 2133mhz (4x)
GTX 680
480gb Intel SSD (550mb/s read/write)
WoL's editor is searching while you type. This is causing the slowdown. HotS searches with a delay.
