I want to check how good protection is before i upload my map but i can not find the maps in general, are they just stored into cache that locked maps can not be copied/opened whatever in general?
Protection only protects your Triggers, Galaxy Scripting, and prevents anyone from re-publishing your map. They can still open it within GE to see your terrain and pre-placed units.
Anyway, search your entire computer for *s2ma, the maps can be found there. They've got random hashed names so good luck trying to find yours, :P.

That's strange.. i can find just blizzard maps but not his custom published protected map i downloaded from bnet
if you lock you map, your localization is also gone.
i added manually folders for different languages to lacalize it, and it only works if the map is unlocked status.
also the file size differs hardly, about 1 mb between locked and unlocked for me.

Both of you need to click "See More Results" and then on the bottom click "Computer" so it searches everything.
There are definitely no maps, just 1kb hardtile.bin files thats all, the map was locked we just wanted to know if you can steal the map somehow after opening like change a unit and republish with different name
You can open it. The .s2ma should be around there somewhere, heh. But like I said, the Triggers and Galaxy are unreadable, and you won't be able to republish it.

Yup, I had pkol (from IRC) test with me. He created two games for me, one Locked and one Unlocked. I got both. They're both able to be opened, but the Locked map has its Triggers file deleted and the MapScript.galaxy was obfuscated to be unreadable. It's also missing some other files so it cannot be published.

For me, all the maps are in >> (Username) > Starcraft II Beta > Maps > Cache > 000000 > 1680*something*
Maybe you can find ur stuff in there?

small side question, my map is actually not playable as public version if i set its protection to locked.
anyone having the same issue, or is this fixed already? (last downtime probably)
i can play mine locked, but just using it private so far because of bugs, what does the error say?
only stuff on my pc with s2ma are random folders+.s2ma but there is just a 15-24kb bin file in it
there is no error at all, i just cant click that "open to public" button.

right, i cant do open to public when hosting the game as well, dont know how to fix it yet

make sure your setting the game type, at first i thought i couldnt host games either but then once i set game type the open to public button opened up
that does not matter, making your map "locked" definitly prevents you from hosting it public.

The Default paths for the Cache are:
Vista/7: C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache\
XP: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\blizzard entertainment\battle.net\cache\
So the maps should be in there, :P.
