I played WoW for many years and read a great many posts (as well as writing a few of my own) that were EXTREMELY critical of the game. The only time those posts were ever locked/deleted is if they were profanity-laced tirades.
Negative posts that read like they were written by an actual grown-up were welcomed and often professionally responded to by community managers and even designers if they had the time.
The 50-bazillion page RealID uproar wasn't "censored", either. Are you sure we're talking about the same developer here?
I saw the D3 Trailer and thought "I can't wait for Torchlight 2".
I'm all for great games that don't come from Valve or Blizzard but they seem to have a history of being short-lived, no cult following (nor large community to play with), or just not as good overall. Example being dungeon siege and mythos that come to my head right now. Also, Age of Conan seemed like a pretty good followup to WoW but I ended up hearing not spectacular things about it so I decided not to waste my time.
It's like trying to believe that X/Y/Z tablet will be as smooth as the iPad but in the end it just feels like a cheap knockoff.
Question is, why the fuck would I ever need an iPad?
Second question is, I can't develop apps for iOS without owning a Mac apparently. Fuck apple. Their iPhone product is good, but I'm not going to sell my soul to them so that I can develop on their platform.
ah, yes.
everyone hates whinging. they get tired of seeing it. blah blah.
i used this arguement for lan and i will use it here.
yea everyone gets sick of the complaining.
but game developers have learnt time and time again if they just ignore
the whinging it goes away with time.
especially when prominant community members support them and swing the
community in their favor of "deal with it"
as soon as everyone stops complaining, blizzard thinks it isn't a
problem anymore
and it NEVER gets fixed. EVER.
Quoted for Truth.
Just check Blizzard's history:
Real ID on forums, mass raging: fixed
No chat channels, consistent whinning: fixed
No LAN, people didn't care: not fixed
Shitty custom map system, only a minority complains: not fixed
And I could go on and on with better examples, but Im not that bored.

Didn't you see the commercials? It comes with a ten dollar camera now, and only costs a few hundred more than the original iPad (and any other tablet...). Or you could just get a laptop (oh but that doesn't have a touch-screen... only everything else is better).

Lets see what the future brings...
You can't compare the levels of rage.
Real ID got thousands of posts in minutes, and chat got that rage wave against Frank Pearce. The other 2 didn't get as enough rage.
The custom map system is harder to fix too. Even the haters can't agree on a single fix. Chat and real ID are easy fixes. They even added bookmarks and fun or not, tho no one raged for them. I don't think they'll fix the system until the playerbase drop below a certain threshold. So far, the players have dropped a lot since launch, but judging by the hours played, its pretty stable now. There's enough new maps trickling it to keep the current playerbase interested.
I would say wait till marketplace come out. If there's so few people using it, they may fix the system so there's a flood of players. To get a flood of plaeyrs, they would need to actually fix the system.
@Mephs: Go
I second that.

What Blizzard forums have you been reading?

Apple already owns your soul. Didn't you hear? They apparently even have more money than the US Gov.
Edit: Well, actually, right now I apparently even have more money than the US Gov.
That was awesome.

So what we need is more rage? Let's get everyone hopped up on some energy drinks and in a big crowd.

I say we get South Park vs Wallmart on their ass (giant crowd holding torches and singing Kumbayah while the Blizzard building burns down).
