Oh sorry I should have fact-checked that one! For some reason my brain thought Tychus was the trailer. I retract my statement, so we'll have to look at older Blizz games that had more mysterious trailers lol.
Although I've never been in the military, I have some basic knowledge about how soldiers are supposed to behave in battle. It doesn't involve staying idle when paratroopers are falling from the sky. A civilian might be shocked and stay frozen in place, but these marines are supposed to be trained, if not brainwashed. The cinematic is visually awesome and the Terran portrayed in the cinematic don't make very realistic soldiers. What, can't the cinematic be great in some aspects and somewhat lacking in others?
Also, as someone said, this is the opening cinematic, aka the beginning of the story. It is not a commercial.
lol at people assessing the viability of the terran's battle tactics and using their shortcomings as leverage against the quality of the video. over-analyze much? also, this topic in general is this:
You people and your puny arguements while I here have been noticing how the layout for the city space where the siege tank fight takes place reminds me of piazza san pietro.
Do you do anything other then insult others, Often Myself and others wonder how someone like you could EVER become a moderator of such a relaxed community or any community for that matter... Do us all a favor quit being a dick in every thread you post in ONLY because you think yourself superior to anyone, This crap is getting annoying you have been running your damn mouth to EVERYONE who you don't like... And if you think anyone is scared of you, you are a damned fool.
It's +1'd because it's true. Critics are the worst people. They have no intentions of ever enjoying anything and try to bring their misery and hatred of everything upon everyone else. They are indeed steaming piles of shit.
Critics are awesome. They give logical & well-detailed reasons for why your favorite story is stupid/juvenile. As a result, fanboy rage ensues. :D
Not always logical.... Usually its stupid shit they fret over, like, Well in scene 3 they talked for about 30 seconds longer then they should have... Or my favorite, the explosions were too long...-_- yeah, how can explosions be TOO LONG!!! ONLY TOO SHORT!!!!,
and then another favorite " I know its an action movie, but there was no love story/ the love story was too weak" -_- ITS A GOT DAMN ACTION MOVIE< WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID !!!!!!!!, An Action movie CAN NEVER HAVE A WEAK ENOUGH LOVE STORY, HELL REMOVE THE LOVE STORY!! ITS AN ACTION MOVIE...
Critics are failures, but we do need them they do serve 1 purpose... Critics serve the purpose of outraging Fanboys, then the fanboys, Re-post about whats to love about the movie/game. and then you can compare and contrast and have an accurate grading on how good it will be.
Man this is a war zone not a general chat ...... Cant belive that you guys are fighting for a stupid marine watching a nydus worm X_X
The guy became hopless and he accepted his fate. I dont see whats wronge with that. -_-
You can also see that the battlecruiser is really big in the Wol mission, which you play with odin and send the broadcast. At the end of that mission they show you the battlecruiser larger than the city, Just like this video.
The marines in the Brood War introduction were not from the Earth, the UED refer to them as the colonists. But yes, these were more convincing.
Alright, I would argue that the opening cinematic is more of a prologue than a first chapter. It gives you a sense of the story, but isn't where the story starts. If you watch the cinematics that played when SC Vanilla, SC:BW and SC Anthology (There were three separate videos. One Pre-BW, idk how there were two during/after BW, but if I remember correctly, there were.) were "loading," like, when you first boot the game up, you would notice that they are not really a part of the story. Blizzard's opening cinematics are really just to give you a taste of atmosphere, show you setting. The introduction of people is a bonus that happens sometimes. The second cinematic is for story.
This cinematic was made to show you how Kerrigan feels. This expansion focuses on her because she is the most human of the Zerg, and a leader among them. This means we can relate to her and see the big picture. We see through this battle scene that Kerrigan knows that the Zerg, if united, are a powerful and destructive force. A force she intends to tool into a weapon of her revenge. A weapon she (literally) dreams of bringing down on the capital of the dominion, but mostly to get revenge on Mengsk (the guy who abandoned her to the Zerg in the name of revenge for killing his father). That's a lot of setting to convey. The statue falls, then the flagship falls, then we see the girl, no goddess, who made/will make that happen in an incredibly vulnerable position.
About the Confederate Marine in the SC:BW, (or Vanilla, I can't remember,) he was on Chau Sara, no one knows where he is from, but his ancestors lived on earth.

Yeah, but the whole discussion only exists because Blizzard recently gave us the stats for the Bucephalus, the biggest battlecruiser ever, and it's only 550m long., which makes it a lot smaller than a city.

The cinematic may not be groundbreaking, but there is a key difference: we control those Zerg now.

The video I linked to was on husky's channel though, so I wanted to make that clear. But as you said, husky did not make the trailer ^.^

Cinematic was godly. period. I did see some physics mistakes, though, that or that first tank was going really fast and was incredibly light.
@zeldarules28: Go
Ok, I'm happy you admitted it.
Those tanks arent real tanks, they dont have caterpillar, so they can go fast. Though acceleration is different issue...
Wasn't fast enough.
