The new "mechanics" in that video are nice. I spotted a new protoss air unit, an ice critter that looks like a roach/lurker? Kerrigan infesting or possibly injecting a parasite in Lessara? Or and the new Baneling mutations... The multiplayer part shows nothing new, they simply removed what was removed from the beta.
In case anyone lumped me in with the 'disliker' group, let me clarify my statement and not be the ambiguous and nigh-on-omnipotent douche I act like in real life:
1. I really like the animation.
2. I really like the way the cinematic plays out.
3. One thing I don't like, though, is how dumb the Dominion army is. The Viking pilot could simply fire missiles by diving, instead of showing off and getting himself killed without dealing any significant damage to the Zerg Swarm's ground army. Out of the Marines (short of saying that they didn't choose/create a very good tactical point, something that probably could have happened under a bad military leader), only one of them looks at the Nydus Worm. A) why didn't all of them look at it, or B) why didn't he just keep firing and acting as the fearless armies of the Dominion do and fight to the death (and keep in mind the Ultralisk was roughly 10-15 feet ahead of him)? This is my major dislike with the WHOLE of the Sc2 franchise, where all enemies (like Kerrigan and Selendis) are dunces extraordinaire.
While shooting the ultralisks with missles might look cool, the point of it coming down was purely to show how awesome the Ultralisk is, not the other way around. In the whole cinematic you don't really see the death of any zerg. You see big explosions happen and Zerg units likely perish, but it shows relentless and dominating the Zerg are. It's a completely one-sided fight.
In the end the cinematic showed that the swarm is a relentless unstoppable force whether the viking stayed in the air or the marine didn't turn around they would crush everything in their path. Similar to the rounds bouncing off of zerglings in the BW cinematics. It was also meant to show that even though Kerrigan was uninfested the Queen of Blades is still inside of her. I think it was executed very well and it got me and everyone I've shown it to very interested in picking this up for the story.
Look at these movie critics tearing apart the cinematic. Your opinion is shit just like other critics. The same reason why I no longer read reviews anymore. Critics are retarded and give no real insight on how good or bad something really is.
Oh no! They used the Wilhelm scream! IT SUCKS NOW!...
OMG! The futuristic Viking transforms just like...A TRANSFORMER!
WTF? Those Siege Tanks shells EXPLODE?
LOL...That Marine looked over his shoulder because a massive Nydus Worm just shot out of the ground behind him...what a pussy! If I were a trained marine I'd just keep blindly firing at the Zerg infront of me without a care for what is happening behind me.
OK SERIOUSLY? A massive Battlecruiser Starship just crashed instead of exploding in the sky?..strait out of a Michael Bay film.
WOW...It was only a dream? It makes no sense that Kerrigan who was betrayed and left to die to the Zerg by Arcturus Mengsk would have dreams about sending the swarm which she controls to destroy Korhal...nope makes no sense at all.
Make something better or get over yourself you steaming pile of shit.
It's +1'd because it's true. Critics are the worst people. They have no intentions of ever enjoying anything and try to bring their misery and hatred of everything upon everyone else. They are indeed steaming piles of shit.
Calm the fk down. You're sounding incredibly retarded with these statements.
If you actually pay attention to what Kerrigan is saying and that it all comes down to being a dream the whole clip makes perfect sense. She is dreaming about a bunch of hopeless Terrans futile efforts at stopping the swarm. That's how she saw the strength of the Zerg.
Where do you think that Siege Tank was fleeing to? If you pay any attention to the series the swarm shows up without warning. In all likely hood they just didn't have enough time to mount a proper defense. We can't know why the Viking transformed, but from what we see in the clip is that the rest of them were getting anally penetrated by the Mutalisks. He may have thought his chances were greater on the ground than in the air.
If any of you had any idea on military strategy/discipline you would know that you follow orders or you endanger yours or anothers life. It's almost entirely possible that they were told to hold that position at all costs. The marine that turns around realizes the futility of the defense and senses his demise.
It's sad that this even has to be explained to anyone.
Isn't this an opening cinematic though, not the trailer? Ie this is actually part of the game. I agree that it will get people excited, as the CG is awesome; but as I said, I'm just fearful that the story itself will be blah again (as this cinematic gives me no indication that it won't be).
As a counter example, WoL's opening video had more emotional impact, as you're watching Kerrigan left behind (though that's an SC1 plot point mind you).
I believe the problem with the majority of all animation and sequences nowadays is that it is extremely hard to make a fresh animation because everything has been done already. Let's just face facts, if this was the first animation of it's kind everyone would praise it for being ground breaking. But it's not the first of it's kind, we have seen this type of animation before. This doesn't mean it wasn't very well made, it means that all of us are very jaded because we see things like this all the time. So in reality the real problem is that we, the public, are bored with this type of animation because it's been overdone, and it will most likely continue to be overdone.
Another problem is that when you're a big company like Blizzard and you are spending millions of dollars on making cinematics you don't really want to take any risks because tons of money is involved in those risks, instead you go for something safer that has been tried and true. This type of animation appeals to the masses, it's a good choice if you are aiming for the average Joe who likes to see things explode. Blizzard is not trying to make something truly original, they are just trying to make something that is going to be entertaining to the majority of people and sell. I think that the majority will be very happy with this trailer and be stoked about it.

Do you even know what the word hypocrite means? I'm calling his critical opinion and overall attitude shit. The majority seem to agree with my opinion while the only people defending him...are you guessed it...THE CRITICS. Sure I may be a little blunt about it, I'm not going to beat around the bush though. To become a hypocrite I would have to do something like EteranalWraith. Like threatening to ban a community member for swearing while swearing in my posts. Then going into another thread swearing and calling another person a retard.
It's better to just stat your opinion in a constructive well thought out manner from the beginning, there is no reason you need to cuss excessively to prove a point. Or to put people down in order to further your argument when they call you out for being rude.
It's suppose to come off rude. That's the whole point. Some people can't interpret the difference between sarcasm and sincerity. I spell it out for them.
But the problem is that I agree with your opinion but I don't agree with how you deliver it. You can be straight forward without being rude. In fact the cussing and anger in your post only distract from the point you are trying to make, you would get much further if you just put up a good sound argument without resorting to highly emotional statements.
Sometimes my delivery isn't great I'll agree with that. But I'm not going to be nice to someone who is clearly being overly critical and rude towards someone elses hard work just for the sake of it. It's hilarious how someone can make such assumptions about a game just from the opening cinematic. I remember in 2004 before World of Warcraft came out there were a ton of people criticizing the graphics saying they wouldn't purchase it because of it. Some of those same people I know of personally still play the game. Some people are way to critical of things before any real conclusion can be made. Also, criticizing the plot of a 2 minute clip? Are we serious?

Tainted was warned because of his language. I dont even have to link his posts to highlight my point in this case. Its all in that thread.
I did not swear you, but was pointing out your behavior is overly aggressive and stupid/retarded to some of the other people in this thread(voicing their opinions)
See this is a much better more thought out post and I agree with you 100% that some of the over critical comments in this thread are a little premature. But I guess that even if other people are saying stupid things it is always the best to rise above their immaturity, because they will eventually make themselves look stupid and lose credibility and in the end the person who keeps there composure and puts up a well thought out argument will win by default.
@Triceron: Go
I actually witnessed someone complaining how 'unrealistically sized' the BC was in the comments of the video, I kid you not.

Hmm yeah that makes more sense.
Husky posted some single player gameplay on his channel. Take a peek if you haven't already :D

That wasn't the opening. Tychus and his suit was.
Also, why do people call this a trailer?
I'm just going to throw this out there...

Exactly. I feel my hope in humanity dwindle every time I see a hypocrite who can't tell that X = X.
