Well, I think there is the fact that the Terran soldiers don't look particularly professionnal during the battle. The siege line is fine (well, they would have spread far more than that in real life but that's no big deal) but the marines don't look particularly worried to have a leviathan about their heads, turn slowly when a nydus worm pops in their back, and the viking pilot is just an idiot.
I personnally like the cinematics, it's just something that slightly disturbed me and that other people noticed as well.
I have no words for any of you... Blizzard is a VIDEO GAME company. You are comparing their cinematic to a style of movie. The fact that their cinematic can even be compared to a movie at all is impressive.
All I know is that when I watched that thing, I was like "holy shit, that's fucking awesome". And are you fucking serious? How could you POSSIBLY know what a marine would be doing in a zerg invasion? Has this ever happened to you? And don't forget that they don't have peripheral vision... They are wearing armor that restricts their vision. So wouldn't it make sense that you wouldn't want to believe that if you turned around, you would be facing your death? I know I wouldn't want to.
I feel that so many of these complaints are simply for the sake of complaining.
This isn't like Brood War cinematic's marines, where they were humans from Earth. These are the Koprulu sector resocialized prisoner marines.
On top of that, this is Korhal's main army we're talking about. This is the main military force, not some backwater yahoos with power armor. They've fought Zerg before, it's not a new threat they haven't encountered before.
Look at these movie critics tearing apart the cinematic. Your opinion is shit just like other critics. The same reason why I no longer read reviews anymore. Critics are retarded and give no real insight on how good or bad something really is.
Oh no! They used the Wilhelm scream! IT SUCKS NOW!...
OMG! The futuristic Viking transforms just like...A TRANSFORMER!
WTF? Those Siege Tanks shells EXPLODE?
LOL...That Marine looked over his shoulder because a massive Nydus Worm just shot out of the ground behind him...what a pussy! If I were a trained marine I'd just keep blindly firing at the Zerg infront of me without a care for what is happening behind me.
OK SERIOUSLY? A massive Battlecruiser Starship just crashed instead of exploding in the sky?..strait out of a Michael Bay film.
WOW...It was only a dream? It makes no sense that Kerrigan who was betrayed and left to die to the Zerg by Arcturus Mengsk would have dreams about sending the swarm which she controls to destroy Korhal...nope makes no sense at all.
Make something better or get over yourself you steaming pile of shit.
I think it was great for cinematic. The hyperion coming down was also simply great! Like...you see it on wol loggin screen all the time, so its like oh yeaaaaa my trusted hyperion!
but those who say Blizzard should make movie...this is nothing like a movie so stating that from one short clip is just stupid.

I think Blizzard held their belief. Video games can stand on its own as a medium of art, there's no need to go back to make movies, video games are superior due to the interactive nature. It's like saying a famous youtuber that he should go get his own TV show.
And also make feature length movie in the style of Blizzard cinematic wouldnt make sense. Character development is felt through gameplay (you developed that character). In movies, you were told about the character though both their moment and their mundane life. Do we really want to spend millions CGI budget for a 2 hour movies in which 60% of it are just character development (which is necessary to tell a story).

While I agree with you on most, I just want to point out that saying one art form is superior to another is just simply nonesense.
Also, I just read the critiques on page 2, and honestly I think they're pretty correct in their assessment. I didn't get much out of this trailer except for the ending, but then I remember the WoL campaign (and D3 story) and fear it'll just be another one of those.
Just seemed like a lot of mindless action with very basic Kerrigan lines. The ending was really only the redeeming part. CGI was amazing though!
Edit: Also that rant above calling the guys on page 2 'steaming piles of shit' is not exactly a great post, interesting that you guys +1'd it. Oh well.
In my opinion, a trailer's purpose is to get new people interested in the game. Most people who are interested in lore and want a cinematic that gives plot teasers will be purchasing the game anyways. I know that regardless of the cinematic, I am purchasing it.
However, someone who hasn't played WoL, or hasn't in a long time, is going to watch that and say "holy shit, that's awesome". They won't be focusing as much on the realism. In my opinion, they did a good job making a trailer that will hook more people into buying the game, which is what I'm assuming the purpose is. If not, someone please correct me.

It's +1'd because it's true. Critics are the worst people. They have no intentions of ever enjoying anything and try to bring their misery and hatred of everything upon everyone else. They are indeed steaming piles of shit.
I agree with PART of that statement. The job of a critic is to be critical. Their job is to look past the good and be as pessimistic as possible. HOWEVER...
To everyone else:
There is no need for critics when it comes to a game cinematic. Period. I would, in fact, put a trailer more in the realm of a commercial than a movie. Have you ever heard of anyone (who is sane) critiquing the plot of a commercial?
While I agree with you on most, I just want to point out that saying one art form is superior to another is just simply nonesense.
Poor choice of word on my part. I wouldn't say it's superior. It's more like moving backward. We dont turn a movie into a book but rather make a movie based on a book.
Anyway, there's a couple more shots from the remaining cinematics for HOTS here (at the end of the video)
And here's a bunch of press video since NDA is lifted
TL interview
SCLegacy interview
I'm not sure if Sixen get any press video (probably not) but if you know any other video please post here too.

Isn't this an opening cinematic though, not the trailer? Ie this is actually part of the game. I agree that it will get people excited, as the CG is awesome; but as I said, I'm just fearful that the story itself will be blah again (as this cinematic gives me no indication that it won't be).
We see a new intro cinematic which is all pretty and shiny, yet for some feels dull and uninspiring. So these people who think it has flaws share their thoughts with the rest of mapsters, is that bad? Should they not share their opinion just because what they're about to say is not all flowers and rainbows?
Come on, that post calling all opinions of all dislikers "shit" is needlessly defensive and narrow. First - Jay thread and now this.. this is just too damn low. I guess the spirit of religion thread can never die, there must always be a hate thread.

:P i know haha, I would love a movie of this though
HELL just make a pro league game Huk Vs Stephano, and then just play their game out through cinematic... I would pay 20$ for it...

Let's just be thankful they decided to be inspired by Micheal Bay and not George Lucas...

P.S. did the Ultralisk running into the street scene remind anyone of something I made a while back? It did for me LOL.
Zerg op
