Seems almost pointless due to the lack of socialization in battle.net 2.0. The general chat channel generally has what? 30 people in it? The arcade chat usually has 2? How is word going to get out about this, other than through the mapmaking community (which is generally small) and the people they convince to promote their projects.
I have joined a handful of "lets test each others maps" groups (My game has never been in a playable state) and it has always been: "Hurry up and finish this game so we can test MY map" -said everyone ever. "Hey, who wants to start a game of squad TD?" -said guy who has had his map tested. "Sure" -says everyone who isn't waiting to have their map tested. "I've gotta go work on my map" -Said the remainder.
Sure, I am being cynical, but you have set the stage for exactly this to happen as it always happens. There is so little socialization in sc2 that people who are not directly involved in something, have no clue about it. Bring back giant chat rooms! message of the days/weeks whatevers! Throw some interactive videos up there. Make socialization the default setting.
Seriously, 5 years passed and now they are making automated tournaments, which were in warcraft 3. May be in next few years they will bring back old chat channels from warcraft 3, lol.
let's face it. it's not traysent's fault that the arcade is in this state. The arcade forum is full of it, we said it a hundred times, i said it a hundred times, the current system is toxic to new / complex / niche maps. if blizzard would have wanted to change something they would have done it by now. I don't think that they haven't read it, it's basically everywhere in space and time, said by many different ppl. and tray won't change this, i also think he just can't (even if he agrees with us) and also it's too late. most ppl here jumped the boat already and more will because lotv will change nothing about it (at least they didnt announce anything).
there is nothing to gain the sc2 arcade anymore, we cant make the games we want to because they are not being played, playing new stuff is not possible because there are only ppl to fill the popular maps left. and money was never an option.
well, what i wanted to say, let's have some fun with this contest, might be the last one.
New maps regularly appears on arcade, but yes, top 10 is almost the same as it was 2-3 years ago. Most of new maps getting die very fast because most of mappers are leaving development due to lack of time and motivation.
I love how even Traysent simply posting about the RTC testing event (Which they also did last year) somehow provokes people to bitch about the arcade. lol :)
Anyways, the only thing I see wrong with this is that it should be at least 2 hours. One hour was not enough last year and everyone felt very rushed which lead to little to no time for decent feedback.
btw who is going to be there?
i am in need to download the maps before the event starts, plz post map links. mine is battlenet://starcraft/map/1/262249
I know I'm not responding to all of the above points but I will say that last year we were able to play every map that was presented each night without issue and I expect the same to happen this year. We keep a running list of who's game is ready to test and we would simply move down the list. Bounty might be right that we'll need to make this longer and I'll definitely keep an eye on this as each one occurs.
I will like to know what happen and what is the deal with getting invite and the server kicking me again and again! I did restart the game many times and still i was getting the same sht happen.
Also I do have 2 maps i will like to test.
Also yes if anybody will like to test send me a page.
I need more exposure to this maps, Bnet system is a killer for new maps.
I posted our current schedule for this today.

Lets raise a horse, just to beat it to death:

would be great to have a list of pending maps to see what is being played next time.
