I wouldn't. Guess I wanted to know where you guys are at.
Guess a poll would be a good idea?
Edit:
my 2 cents:
I feel we should be thankful that blizz (and only blizz) gave us the access and free reign to part of their software, I'm sure some people will profit from it, but like for pro gaming, only a minuscule percentage of mapmakers will...
I'd rather thank blizz for what's available now: a game WITH an editor lengthening its life expectancy to a level unheard of before..., I'd even cry over spilled milk (loss of lan or other, all "new world order" related issues) rather than go after them for waiting 4 or 5 years before letting go (they did "loose" scbw much earlier)...
They own the shit... how would you react in "their" shoes...? (I'm oversimplifying the blizz persona of course)
I feel this editor is a milestone for future gaming... just like the internet guy killed the tv, blizzard is creating a monstrous precedent with this move... with sc2 editor you don't need to buy another game EVER... you can choose to, but you'll never buy another shitty one that's for sure... and why would you, with sc2mapeditor you can do them yourself... I use to design board games when I was a kid, my kid will design video games at half the age I did my games...
In short, get a job, cause the the future is everything media related will be free... uh I mean pre paid for...
I plan on leveraging the marketplace if I can, but to me it's a matter of value rather than workload. After all, you can mold a piece of shit into Michelangelo's David but it'll still stink.
Specifically, anything I intend for the marketplace will have a full-fledged single-player component in addition to its bread-and-butter multiplayer: in other words, a legitimate game. I mean, when have you ever bought a game that required seven other people?
If i ever want money for my maps, it'll probably be if i ever make WoW Raid like maps, and then only the best and hardest of them, and only if banks can be protected properly...
Everything except that, i don't want anyone pay. Hell, maybe not even for that. If i want money i'll just politely ask for donations (and when they say no ill scream in their face "Well i could just force you to pay to play!" lol jk)
Yea, im voting for no.
Errr, I voted 'I don't know'. It really depends on what I've come up with. If I made some serious hardcore shit, I might decide to make it premium only. If Blizz gives you the option of wiring your bank details into your account and my maps cost 1 buck a map or less, then you really are a greedy little bastard if you're angry with me for putting up a price; If I put 100-200 hours of work into something and you're not willing to click two buttons and spend a dollar on it, then up yours.
On the other hand, this is probably the most extreme thing I'd do, if I were honestly at least partly trying to make a living of mapping (which is something that might become possible with the map market). For anything I can currently create, I am way more likely to offer it both free and at a price. Aka enabling donations, if you will - if you just want to play the map, you'd be able to get it for free, but if you feel it's worth paying for, the option is there.
What I don't think I'll ever do is make 'VIP versions' of my map, as this to me always simply feels like you're screwing over the people who don't want to pay. Either you're forced to pay for everything or the choice is yours, imo. I do not want to force you to choose to pay by forcing some half assed non-VIP version upon you if you don't.
If you made a large scale campaign or single player map(s) that were high quality, I could see charging. That or bonus things like pets/skins/whatever for a free map (hopefully Blizzard will put banks serverside).
Sure if things are a dollar that would be fine but if it was a big map. I think as a player it would suck seeing all these great games to play but they all cost money to play, for a game we have already payed for. Remember that people aren't just going to make it cost a dollar or something small and you cant be guaranteed you will like the game or the map will be of high quality. As a mapper though I would love that small amount of cash coming in but imo if you really deserve it people that appreciate good maps will donate.
But as a though if you do make your game pay to play, please release demo's so I know what im paying for first thanks.

This one pretty much covers it in case you haven't been following
http://www.sc2mapster.com/polls/what-are-your-thoughts-on-the-marketplace/
But for the time being It look like mapmaker has to pay players to play their map instead.
edit : just finished reading it, sorry for the double thread, dump it if you feel it's redundant (although the poll choices differ)
"it looks like a mapmaker has to pay to get their map played" good one

<Cough> Boardgames </Cough> :P
A map would have to be an entirely unique experience for it to warrant a price, otherwise people would just flock to the most identical version
I think its a bit too early for this conversation.
Im sure lots of us would like to make a little gimmicky game and sell it for 99 cents or something like that.
But we have no idea what blizzards requirements will be once they implement an online-store
Me? Never! Ever! Period.
I hate downloadable content, which costs money and I will not support it, even if I could benefit from it.

Never heard of it. Is it for PC?
bump because of op edit

you should showcase other drawings from franquin, I love that one, but he's one of the most prolific craftsman in the world, so ...
