some internet sources recently published "insider" information that the campaign is already finished and they choosing proper release date. No opening cinematic yet however

This was mentioned months ago. However do not confuse "complete" with "ready". Something can be complete but an unplayable/impossible buggy mess. When something is ready then it is good to go and be sold. Just because they have finished the campaign does not mean it is ready as they still have massive amounts of quality control to perform on it.
The main difference between friends and family alpha and the more open beta would probably be to removal of the campaign and associated assets to prevent spoilers. As such chances of anyone here getting into such an alpha is probably null unless they fall under the appropriate friends/family terms and sign a non-disclosure agreement.
@ImperialGood:
The campaign is probably complete, as in mission design. But I can all but guarantee that they will end up changing a mechanic, switch around some units in a mission, make non-placeholder models and fix bugs in general.
Be sure to check out the extension mod: Hots Custom Map support on NA and EU, Despite the name it greatly expands the roster of options for the default 3 races and is updated all the way to NCO.

Not very hyped. Personally I'm not very confident in some of the new units or changes coming to LOTV, it doesn't seem like they have a strong grasp of what the game needs to progress forward. My interest in SC2 multi has dropped severely. At this point I'd rather they not touch multi at all and focus on the story and get the game out sooner than later.
If they don't touch the multy the game is dead at 100% forever. They need to do innovative and good stuffs with the multiplayer, or lotv will be the grave of sc2 and no one will play it, so no one will play arcade or the campaign.
I don't care too about the multiplayer, but i care that the game will continue to live.
The most recent Team Liquid Map Contest (one week ago, in association with Blizzard) awarded LotV beta keys to the finalists. Since they're starting to give out keys, I'm confident the beta is right around the corner.

Some signs seem to be pointing out to the beginning of a friends & family alpha/beta for LotV.
- BattleNet servers and Websites are down.
- The latest LotV development update mentioned being in alpha but looking up keep things unchanged as they're heading into beta to test them in the beta.
- A BattleNet update was released yesterday, containing the following images, which were datamined: http://starcraft2.judgehype.com/news/premieres-traces-de-legacy-of-the-void-dans-l-application-battle-net-140751/

@DEFILERRULEZ:
Basically the same, the beta interests me more in the digging around the beta editor way.
