Its blizzard game and blizzard will do what blizzard wants.
They laugh when we QQ.... they know what they are doing.... they are looking ahead look at WC3 tournaments pretty sure they handle them the same way for the most part.
I for one could give a damn less about what koreans are doing..... and nor should any of you. Unless your from korea that is.
You guys seriously need to look at the bigger picture.... 10 years from now people are still going to be playing SC2, and you can quote me on that.

It would be cool if some really really good RTS came along, that had a map editor, had a similar setting to starcraft, and was just way way more awesome.
given that kind of competition, im sure Blizzard would have a really good reason to drive further development into starcraft 2.
the 2 next expansions would be epic.
...now all we gotta do is find an RTS as good as the starcraft universe. any suggestions? (note: dont just say warcraft, and the RTS u mention must have a map editor and allow for modding. )

People likely wont even be playing SC2 in 5 years, let alone 10. SC1 lasted for so long because it was a solid, and adaptable game. SC2 is a solid game, but is rigid as fuck. I mean I for one played SC1 and WC3 for so many years because there was always new and fresh content in the form of custom maps, that wont happen in SC2 so I have no reason to play.
Blizzard also makes it difficult to host tourney's, and as the years go by people are gonna be less and less inclined to deal with their power-hungry nonsense. So this will limit SC2's use as an e-sport.
You're naive if you think Blizzard can do no wrong, and that they'll fix it all. These problems have been around for almost a year now. I know fixing things takes time, but in the 7 or so months it's been, they haven't made a single move to fix it. They haven't done ONE SINGLE THING towards fixing these problems. Hell, they haven't even said they'll fix them. All they've said is 'deal with it'. How you can believe they'll suddenly have a change of heart and fix all this shit is beyond me, since they've very clearly shown they don't care.
But hey, if you being such a rampant fanboy helps you sleep at night, have fun. But in 5 years when SC2's just another dead game, because Blizzard's full of idiots, try not to cry :/
blizzard has silently shown they have absolutely no interest in modders making a mark in their game, likely a response to the DOTA fiasco (a mod which made them millions).
Why would Blizzard include an editor in sc2 if they had no interest in modders?
I lost faith in Blizzard after reading some letters copy pasted back to Icefrog on his beta forums. What makes you think SC2 will be any different?
So far the only thing Blizzard has done for the modding community is hurt it, with a downgraded bnet. You never seen blues post in the custom map section, drawing attention to conversation of issues in the community. Thus, you can pretty much tell nothing will change.

That "look at me, I'm a smug rebellious underdog" phrasing would be more fitting if you weren't actually among the 99% of SC2Mapster regulars that cry foul, demand their money back and tell tales of Blizzard conspirations against their own community at every single step. Being positive about SC2 or Blizzard is the furthest away from "crying" that one could be around here.
You people need to take a chill pill once in a while. Why are you even on a SC2 fan site if you insist on flooding it with your insipid crocodile tears? It's not like Curse can do anything about how much you think Blizzard sucks. You can go ahead and complain your heart out on the Blizz forums, but why here?

Could you give a link to this letters please? I'd like to read them thanks.

There's nothing wrong with complaining about a product you've purchased. It was after all the massive outcry of the community that forced blizzard to stop that ridiculous real name on forums idea.
The sooner Blizzard realize there better off letting the community run their own tournaments and they get there asses more in gear for the modding community the better it is for all of us.
There's nothing wrong with complaining about a product you've purchased.
That holds true when the complaints aren't ridiculous or written in a pitifully toxic way. Rabidly running your mouth off about how Blizzard is demonspawn and implying they actively work against the modding community (see the quote @Eiviyn: Go) is deep into clown territory, for instance. So are posts like @Colt556: Go.
Just sounds like yet another KeSPA instigated propaganda article to me.
and i agree about that.
and even if it fails in korea, there are big tournaments almost weekly in the US and EU (just watch a day9 daily where he says that he wasn't home for a single weekend in over a month and explains why)
Also, custom map content isn't failing. You can see there are thousands of custom games being played per hour. And no, i'm not saying i like the popularity system, it's absolutely horrible. But the thing is, it doesn't drive away the majority of custom map players, just the ones who really know what a custom map can be made into and those that are sick of TDs and auto-spawning maps and mappers who just give up after half a year, like me. All i do nowadays is test maps and try to help others, since i see no point in working on my hero siege anymore. And if the maps that are on top ever grow boring to the majority, they'll drop down the list and let other maps surface. But we can wait a loooooooooooooooooong time for that to happen.
And who knows, maybe chat channels will do us mappers good and actually let us find better custom maps and ask for testers easily, and allow us to play our maps properly, and if that happens, the popularity system wont be as one sided anymore since you can ask for people to play the lower maps, and get them higher up easily and less people will play the top maps since they just need to go into the chat and wait for someone to say something like "LF3M Catalyst". I know it's wishful thinking, but maybe chat channels can become something similar to the custom games list from wc3 (if you can be both in a lobby and a channel, which i think should be no problem). I think i'm in the wrong thread since this isnt a bnet thread...

You replied while i was writing which is why this comes last... I agree about that. Also, when the complaints aren't just repetition of the same basic thing over and over again. There are certain posts i just started ignoring due to the fact that i know what the person wants to say simply by his name...
I think the main problem is their over profit hungry agenda is seriously damaging the 'Blizzard reputation'. A lot of people out there including myself viewed Blizzard hands down as the best gaming company out their without a shadow of a doubt. Lately thou I'm seriously beginning to question that.
Take into account that I'm an older gamer who's been 'with them' right back since the early days of Starcraft 1, so I have a long history with Blizzard as I'm sure many here do as well. A gaming company however must continuously reach out to the younger generation turning them into loyal customers.
How will the youngsters view Blizzard and Starcraft 2, that's very important. How they perceive Blizzard as a company, I think many of them won't be too impressed, which will effect Blizz in the future.
That's why some might say they are working against themselves :p

Obviously some people are dissatisfied with Sc2 and the editor at the moment, which I don't blame them for although like you said they are venting it in a less than effective manner.

This is a good post, Blizzard's new stance from a company that seemed to genuinely be about building the best games they possibly could to making games that make the most money.
But hey, if you being such a rampant fanboy helps you sleep at night, have fun. But in 5 years when SC2's just another dead game, because Blizzard's full of idiots, try not to cry :/
Let's all stay cool and play nicely with each other.
Pretty sure in the Activision Blizzard quarterly statements; under the Blizzard section it states that they're model of success will be continued by developing the best game possible. Nothing else really, no publisher rights statements, no nothing. Its almost like they're a separate company. Probably because they have long development stages, and need a static stock quotes. Something stupid like that can be the reason for mergers.
Anyway, its not a new stance its always been like that.
But, that doesn't mean Blizzard is all knowing and all powerful when it comes to perfecting a game. Common sense. Blizzard is growing more open to criticism these days. And, feedback good and bad is most likely openly welcome.
I still don't have any faith Blizzard will do much for the custom map community. Alot needs fixing, way to much. I think they're not capable of the challenge, or willing.

They might already be perma banned there..
Edit: Btw, Fyi OP. Sc2 is doing fine Korea. Check your facts. What progammer mentioned in this thread is pretty spot on.
