Hey guys it's been awhile but I'm back and I was wanting to see what the top Map Mods on star craft are as I know the war 3 mod I just want every one to know what some of the top mods are so we can make use of them and use some of the coolest stuff ever made that some of us can use it and further improve.
Renee's War 3 Mod wins by near default, sadly because most people locked their mods, if they even knew how to make mods and separating stuff from a main map file.
Also, sadly, mods are not well promoted, and the only real mod that I think could get major traction would be a gigantic asset mod, but due to file size limits, most people just directly post assets here to be used, and its easier to just pick and choose the models/sounds/images you need.
First: I don't know but you can copy data and trigger from your map into a mod
Second: you can remove any dependencies if your map doesn't actively using it (there is no stuff placed on the map from the dependency, no trigger or map options refer to it). When you try to remove the dependency it will write out a list of usage if you can't remove yet.
Well, I added the campaign dependencies because I wanted to use some HOTS. But I decided 10 minutes later that it was dumb to add the other campaign dependencies just for that, and tried to remove them. But all I got was errors out the wha zoo. And of course, I had just overwritten my only save, like a moron.
"only" save: did you test your map..? the last map tested is YOUR map (possibly before you f cked it up).. maybe you can "save" it from there (if you haven't overwritten it with another since)
you can make a map into a mod
dependencies are not mods, they are super blizzard tinlkered mods
when you change from one to the other (Lotv to hots to Lotv or whatever) the dependency actually IS your map, so changing it changes vast number of things, things that are not meant to go back and fro from one to another.
mods are meant to be added carelessly
AND THEY ARE
for example i can't play my old melee maps uploaded because some douchebag of pus linked a mod 'build all u want" unto it..
i select it to play it (without mod in the search window) and it still adds it
wow much impressed blizzard much impressed the dumb sac of doornails who enforced his mods unto unwanting maps
(this has been the case for several years and NO fix coming from anyone = lol)
mods were a good concept, but they are useless and people working on them are petty and stupid
sc2bw's mod is awesome (and weirdly does not try to impose itself in the lobby.. maybe it does not need to <3 )

If we are talking about exclusively mods that are useful as resources to mappers, Renee's war3 mod wins no contest

What mods would win contests if mapster had one that is a useful resource for mappers?

Scbw mod
Is it possible to turn a map file into an actual mod? It'd be nice to know I could steal from myself for future projects.
More importantly, is there a way to remove dependencies once they're in place?

rené's mod : soemoen send a real cake (the flavor he/she likes) and i'll chip in to pay for it = admirable (and again, no one is forced to use it.. i'll stop, you get the idea)
tldr: mods are s hit fort s hit coders / rené is da man
