Ive been working on a certain map for a while now but last night when i tried to load it up it says ''An unexpected fatal error occured'' and i dont know how to fix it! PLEASE HELP! *CRIES IN A CORNER*
There's a chance you have a late copy in autosave folder. I don't remember turning autosave on, but when my map refused to open, I found a 10 minutes late working copy. So, maybe autosave is on by default. JUst check where it stores the saves and go there.
I agree with the others. Always back up your maps in one way or another. ALWAYS. Because its not a case of if it will break, but WHEN it will break. Having just a single copy of some work is like not having it at all - cause you will eventually loose it, anyways.
I mean fuck, how can one even overwrite a map file in good conscience? When I save a map, I always do it like this: "MapNameX V11", then the next save, even if the changes are very minor, is "MapNameX V12". Later on I can then delete the versions I dont need because I will have like the same map 200 times with different versions, but atleast I can access every single step of development later on.
Also, always have a backup outside of your own computer, like in the cloud or external drives, in case your computer dies. Again, having just a single copy, no matter how many, on a single computer, is like having none at all.

Look on editor backups.
I had same problem. How i solved it? Made that map again .DD
srsly, there is almost no way how to get it back until you save it twice with different name for backup. That's what i'm doing now.
@jonaz1234: Go
can you open it with calc viewer?

OHHHHH.........I hate when that happens. So many times so many tears. I will suggest getting a dropbox and putting all your work there.

I use dropbox to backup my stuff, though I've never had a map breaking error. Still, pays to be prepared in case it ever does happen.
it does happen!
I can't recommend using a version control server highly enough.
