The Mannoroth model in the pic is actually modified a bit for my tasting, with the help of Delphinium. it's not the same one in the official asset pack.
I've just opened DarkRangerHD model and i see that there is some interesting shit with arrow. It seems that it should be handled as tentacle? Did you saw it?
Ok, Just would like to know how many people here still like to creating fantasy maps after the official release of the asset pack?
This question sounds like the mod was supposed to turn people off the likeness of creating fantasy maps, and you curious of how many remained despite.
I used to have a wide range of models in WoW. And now, as I can use the D3 ones (who seem to look much better than the WoW ones), I don't see, why should I limit myself with the set of wc3 ones. Also, I was always a bit picky about map's loading time, and am using only wol multiplayer mod, so it loads fast. And now, to use those models, I have to add one more dependency? I'd rather cut what I need from the mod, and put it in my map. It would only consume a couple of hundreds kilobytes. Also people say that models aren't of a perfect quality, and that turns me off again. And after all, I am not a fan of war 3.
But this mod definitely won't stop me from creating fantasy maps.
Ok Zolden. You are a Russian and I am a Chinese, let's just don't pretend we are good at precise using of English. :)
At least, I never assumed people would turn off the likeness of creating fantasy because this pack, that's not I was trying to say in OP.
I have already accustomed to people in SC2Mapster.com like to complain new things, I never take them too seriously. We Chinese modders are more open for these extra model pack, actually. Also it would be absurd to assume something you don't have from the beginning would stop you from doing something rather than encourage you.
However I did surprised while hearing you are still creating fantasy maps. I thought you have leave for U3D long times ago - but it has been a long time since the last time I was here in sc2mapster.com
I'm glad to see you are still here. Are you still helping the Army of Azeroth team? Or you have quit like Delphinium?
Yes, I started making games with Unity, but without quitting mapmaking. After a year of simultaneously working with both, I only ensured, that Unity is a sweet heaven, and now it feels like an obvious choice to quit mapmaking and forget this nightmare.
But I still have a big map to complete. Been working on it for 2 years, want to leave it perfect. Also, have a nice map idea (got it from a dream), that would involve alot of fantasy characters and buildings. But feels like I will never start this new map, instead will move to Unity completely.
And yes, I quit helping that team, because modelling isn't my favorite part of mapmaking.
I will love to created a fantasy maps after the official release of the asset pack. Those models are not the best but they do look hell a lot better then the previews.

That's the true question I would like to ask.
I haven't been here for a long time and I'm only familiar with Chinese players and modders. So I want to ask about about how much people here would like to do these kind of maps. Because I am planed to release a related public mod in the next 1-2 week.
So sc2mapster people, if I release a huge mod in the first half of Feb, with full Warcraft III systems, and data to simulate all the war3 Units/Doodads/Destructibles/Items/Abilities/Buffs/Upgrades (also models and sounds from the official pack). And the mod would be a public mod like GAx3, How many of you would consider to use it to create your own maps?
There is not one directly addable as a standard dependency... yet. The data IS there. If you look in your mods folder, there is 3 new dependenceis: War3, War3Data, War3Multi. The latter 2 contain all the data.
I actually helped to create the War3Data.SC2Mod in the last month. Because before I even announce my mod here, the mod has been known by someone in blizzard.
I was always wait for the official model pack to release this mod, and on the other hand, blizzard thought a raw model pack is not enough, the model pack better to include basic unit data and weapons. Thus I‘m kind of co-worked with them in a short period.
Though I did had hands on both of the mod, the data in my mod isn't actually using the same rule and format as the War3Data.SC2Mod of official, since blizzard have its own code rule and orientation, so I had to rewrite much of them.
I may explain detail difference in a new thread when I got time.

I didn't do the model part of the asset pack though, the models are mostly there before I saw them. They are mostly in a fixed state at that time, so when I helped hook the data, I was heard some model issues would have be delayed to 'whatever next release of the war3 project'
Yes, abvdzh. Blizzard did know these issue but they have their schedule to fix things. I also personally left a backlog of issue I found to the artists.

Yeah, just search War3HD_ in the mod you will find all the HD models in the asset pack.
The arrow of DarkRanger HD does seems strange.
the quality of these hd models is below average..... as for Blizzard. It looks like it was outsourced.
You can try to modify them, just like the one in the picture.

The ptr client, of course. the patch is on but the server isn't.

Okay now having seen that there's absolutely no data for these units in the PTR. I think a data mod would be useful in this case
I'd be very likely to use said mod. Would likely be very helpful with the creation of a map I just started on.

You are both not accuracy. the asset pack have much data, but not 'all the data'. Most abilities there are just frames with no actual effect data.
Since it's supposed to be a ‘Asset Pack’ patch.
