This is a blunt recreation of wc3. Every doodad, unit and hero is included.
You'll need to own Wings of Liberty to participate, since you must own SC2 in order to use the editor and upload maps. I don't think you need the HotS expansion.
The theme is fantasy. The other thread is pretty much entirely a discussion on what that word means, and it'd be great if that discussion could stay in that thread.
I loved the contest entries last year. I had a pretty unforgettable time with Kildare's Mission Frontier and I seriously can't wait to see some of this year's entries. It's a bit shorter than last year's contest but there is a lot more prize money involved this time around.
Got a little map centered around a custom version of the Blademaster Hero Unit from Wc3 in progress, hopefully this time I will be able to finish my project before the deadline.
I'm also a curious if Blizzard allows use of Renee's War3 Mod since there is no statement of any of them yet and doing so might be against the rules.
Personally I'm actually looking forward to your map the most, seeing your recent maps being mostly centered around Wc3/Fantasy in general. Will definitely check it out if you have anything planned.
Currently working on something myself, I always liked the idea of a turn based rpg fight. As of now I just have the movement system down (basic left and right movement with A and D) and I just finished finding a place for some of the dialog items and did a bit of brain storming. Wanted to make a minute of gameplay and then guesstimate how much content I could make within 3 months time or ask for some help when I have something roughly working, being openly inspired by rouge light games like darkest dungeon but probably not as dark and dreadful in theme because blizzard's aesthetic is just so cartoony.
I am willing to help 1 or 2 people out with some terrain tho, I spent 5-6 hours making the terrain for templar TV last year, and maybe another 10 spread out over a month working with him a little / playtesting his map, while being much more personally involved in terms of time, design and conversation with another project unreal (now Titan) arena.
loved some of the submissions last year myself, cant wait to see what gets finished in time :D
I know i cant not participate cause im living in the void but what happend if my map have (years) of developement and i participate to rock the cabinet 2015?
I mean. I got a advantage versus someone with only 3 months of dev ?
I'm also a curious if Blizzard allows use of Renee's War3 Mod since there is no statement of any of them yet and doing so might be against the rules.
To be honest, I'm not sure. But Blizzard must be okay with it. They have to be. It took me weeks to even turn the assets from sounds, art and models into units with abilities and weapons. It'd be grossly unfair to anyone who wanted to get into this contest if they had to start from scratch. I could easily see a fresh mapmaker just never getting to the actual mapmaking part because they spent so long making units. Renee's mod is essential to this contest in my opinion, and I'd be really sad if it were disallowed because I'm pretty sure it'd decimate the number of entrants.
Honestly I'd like to hear it officially stated that, specifically, Renee's mod is permitted. Even if no others are.

I'm 99.99% sure that it's okay for maps that were made before the contest to be submitted.
I doubt Blizzard would have anything against it, but it would be polite to ask Renee for permission to use it in a contest where there's cash prizes. Heck Renee should get a 10% cut of any winners that use the mod, haha.
In previous CN map contest hold by Blizzard China. There are winners used GAx3 Mod. Any way, editor mods are like libs, I don't think all previous US contest winners used zero lib in the maps.
So, again, when you are considering if you are allowed to use something for this contest, all Blizzard assets from our games can be freely used in this Blizzard contest. Anything that you do no own the rights to, you cannot use UNLESS you are given consent from the original creator. In this case, Renee has given you all the rights to use his stuff. What a swell guy. =)
Yes! We are planning on bringing the beta testing sessions back. We're thinking of September and October to give you guys time to have something for players to test.

Interested? Want to get started? You'll probably want to use Renee's mod as a starting point; http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/player-zone/warcraft-modding/76348-war3-mod-ga-change-log-future-plans/#posts

Are you entering?
Do you have something planned or in progress?

Do people over at the Hive know about this contest? I never use it, but I know there is some crossover between our two sites.
Hey Tya, I sent a PM to you, not sure if you've seen it. :)

If you look at last year's Rock the Cabinet, numerous of the submissions were maps that had been out for a decent while before the competition.

I made a thread over there too. http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/starcraft-nexus-676/rock-cabinet-2015-sc2-arcade-contest-267944/
I'll poke their admins. Seems like something they'd be interested in.
Just saw it, thanks! I'll reply soon!

Models from Heroes. Yes or no?
There is Blizzard warcraft 3 data mod you have to log in editor to access it
I think any questions about the rules should be directed to Traysent, who has an account here.

Ah, thanks for asking :) Using my mod in contest is welcome. And I don't need any cut.
I am entering, missed it last year because i didn't know when it was or what to do. But i know now~ lol
Its in progress currently but i am close to finishing it, only doing User Friendly stuff to make the game more enjoyable and noob friendly.
I would love to see games that think outside of the box. Its interesting and inspirational. :D
So Blizzard might start doing those map night things again, yeah?
