Gabriel noted the presence of traces related to Warcraft III files in the beta Heart of the Swarm. This has not been implemented in the 2.0.1 patch but it provides additional information. Of course we do not know yet if it will actually be used for something, but we reserve Blizzard maybe a little surprise. course keep in mind that it is datamining and Blizzard may well decide not to at all.
It *could* have something to do with Blizz dota, but I do hope its WC3 stuff instead :)
Not BlizzDotA, since they'd have Demon/Angel/Nephilim dependencies, too. (Diablo) Heck, we'd probably have them for all WoW races, too, then. It seems they only have set up racial dependencies for the 5 WC3 races. According to the news and comments, Blizzard have plans to bring WC3 to BNet 2.0, since the old WC3 servers aren't really populated anymore. That's what the news says, but I don't know where and when Blizzard said this, I've never heard that from them.
Interesting. Maybe they plan to make things easier for all the Warcraft maps out there? This is just an idea, I dont really believe they'd do that only for the custom map community to use.
I really hope that that is that, and yea, the blizzard dota thing is a long shot, but pretty much the only plausible answer if we're going off things we know for certain are being worked on :p
WC3 assets readily available would be awesome; Being able to play WC3 in SC2 even more so (although unlikely that it will come directly from blizz -.-)
Probably doesn't belong in this thread but I've never discovered anything cool before so I don't give a damn! I just found DOTA test light in the lighting window :)
They stated in an interview years ago that WoW did not mean that there would never be a Warcraft IV, and that there were many people at Blizzard who would like to see it happen and they wished that they could bring it to the table.
That being said, the Starcraft II engine would only need very minimal upgrades to support Warcraft IV, specifically an amphibious system. Everything else is art, as those who came from Wc3 to Sc2 can see how very similar the two engines are.
It would not surprise me if Warcraft 3 would be ported to Starcraft II as a little gift to battle.net from our beloved devs in Blizzard (who probably did it on their own time and not Blizzard's time).
Found this on the French SC2 news blog linked in the HOTS datamine thread.

-What do you think this could mean?
Really nice find.

No more space themed maps? Be able to easily place grass and flowers? Omg that would be amazing....
A month ago, in IRC:

If this really was the case, I just wished something like this was done earlier so I didn't have to reinstall Warcraft 3 :P

DAAAAAAAAAMN YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Now I'm going to sift through the HoTS files to find something legit :(
hmm interesting, i don't know what will be it, but if it makes my mods completed earlier then i think its cool.
Theyll continue the WarCraft game using StarCraft's game engine. You can play StarCraft II or WarCraft IV effortlessly inside Battle.Net 2.0.
Instead of running a shortcut called StarCraft II, it will be called Craft.
Member since 2010. Made the -The Thing- [Revival] game. Nostalgic of the WC3 days.
Oh hey, just like the new Command & Conquer.

The only question is .... When?
We don't even get Blizzard Dota yet. I doubt we will see this WC3 Assets any time soon.
If such asset mod does come out, it would greatly improve the community though, I think.
Sounds exactly like the all-in-one platform system EA is trying to incorporate for C&C.Damn someone got ahead of me. :(Well, I hope they actually follow through with this. Would be nice to see some maps that don't use WoW models for once.
