I'll just let you wallow in your own self pity then.
I enjoyed your crazy maps and the videos associated with them. Seeya.

Nobody is defending the popularity system. Blizzard knows it sucks. Either deal with it and press on until they inevitably change the system or just make an emotion fueled "I quit" thread.
you are right sir bounty. I cant understand what are they thinking...you have to spend 24h/day boosting the map because of the resets. The system is just plain bad and they like to make it worse from time to time.
I also have gone to "passive" map making. I just do some random stuff every now and then just because I enjoy it, but there isnt any reason to spend time on map making if you got something else/better to do.
I made this thread to let people know not to expect any new maps or updates to my maps from me. I also made to let EU know that i am going to get ALL my maps published. You barged in here with your bullshit accusations and imo defending the popularity system and thinking you could read emotions over the internet. Dont use the arguement that nobody can defend.

gl bounty!
Thanks! Thats exactly what im doing, my brother bought SC2 to make little games for his kids so im going to help him out with that. No reason to support a community that is not supportive.
At this point in the game you really need to treat your maps like actual games, publicity is the key to a maps success.
If you market your map to the masses over the internet on not rely on the popularity system to get your map to the masses you'll be fine.
I know it sucks and it's not how it should be, but the fact of the matter is that their system is broken and you've gotta do what you've gotta do to get it out there.

Are you that guy from the Blizzcon Panel? Could have fooled me lol. This does not work, my youtube videos get thousands of views and i have threads on multiple sites like this and teamliquid. Those threads also get alot of hits and people only say positive things, i release the map and nothing. The only time this worked was with Doodad Hunt and many people have said that was by far not my best map.

In my mind, and on my TV
The forums cried about their apathy!
I wouldn't dedicate myself to a 6-months long-term map project if I
didn't get at least some e-fame out of it - which is why I don't.
Can totally understand you.
But instead of quitting you should do like me. Lurk in the shadows, wait
for the right time to strike.
Did that last night and Ling Ling Rocket! got to page 3, people loved it and Blizzard reset the list 4 hours later. Then they reset it again today... then again just a few minutes ago.
This post just makes me sad. We've seen it countless times by good mappers, and I've gotten several PM's on my youtube channel about stuff like this. It's really all just quite sad (the situation).
In war3 if you had a good map it was still hard to get it spread because you'd need to keep rehosting; so in that regard this system right now (not including resets) works well if you boost your map a bit. But, if you just want to play some games with people, GG.
Don't worry though, we're at the lowest possible point right now so it can only go up! (That's what she said)
People often underestimate this.
Granted, it should've been there from the beginning on!
But you don't "just" add something that big into the game and expect it to suddenly work perfectly with all current systems.

Hey look its this thread again. Long time no see.
In all seriousness, good luck with whatever you want to do.

I am not even playing custom maps anymore. I play melee with my friend. Rarely, Like 4 hours a week(7 days).

I thoroughly enjoyed this thread. Went down great with my evening coffee.
Better go back to doing something I hate for an unsupportive community now.
@Bounty_98: Go
It's really hit and miss man, depends on your connection to the community and how well made / fun your map is.
Your map is a badass idea and looks really cool, but is it going to make people want to search for it on b.net? That's what it boils down to.
If you're getting people who say nothing but good things, tell them to show they really like it and go play it.
But I do understand where you're coming from, I despise the popularity system. I hope things work out for you.
Peace nyaguh!

With lurking in the shadows I don't mean till the next reset.. more like till something really changes.
I can lurk for months. Ò.ó

i heard blizzard is going to bring chat channels and better custom game system with HOTS. soooo until then... :D
...atleast thats what I expect
@zenx1: Go
Chat channeled are scheduled for patch 1.2 - so this year.
Yeah because it takes that long to put in basic chat channels and a basic search fuction? Or a sort games by time they were created? lol
