Ok. I have worked my campaign since release of Starcraft2. It's hard to say how much I have spent time on my project because sometimes I don't do anything in 3 weeks and sometimes I spend whole weekend using editor. 200-300 hours might be near the truth(?) So far I have created 4 missions with very simple terrain and working objectives. I have noticed that I haven't needed data editing in my project except for fixing some command card problems. I tried to add hero units for my campaign but I gave up when I realized that copying unit and modifying its name, health and damage requires too much work. For me triggers are much more clear than data editing. When I first time opened up trigger and data editor im was like "what the hell?".
If I had a power to decide what should be added to editor I would add some things that make basic things easier and more fun to use. I understand that it is good thing that you can do almost anything by this editor but in other hand it gets too complicated for most people. I remember how easy / fun it was to do tracks in rally game called "Stunts" for example. So somekind of basic version of editor would be great. I think many people would like to do some kind of basic things with editor but when they open the editor understand how much they must learn before they can even do most basic things they get desperated. Good example is "screen button" trigger. It works much like "dialog" button but it had been just simplified. That kind of things editor really needs. Current version of editor could be "advanced" version of editor for example. Hope you understand what I meant.
Some sort of "newbie" premade triggers could be great too. Like destroy 3 [things] and you win the game. That kind of things would help newbies to understand things and get more intrested. In some games are that kind of simplified editors. Like "Questmaker".
A bit random text... Well just wanted to list some thoughts =)
