I'm having a serious problem with the editor and can't find a remote answer anywhere. Every time I make an edit to any of my maps, then try to test it out, it reverts all of my unit edits back to the core Starcraft game. Example: I made size, damage and health edits to thors and battlecruisers, and they'll just go back to normal (during my tests, not in map editor) if I make any edits to my map. It will, however work if I just reload any of my maps before this infuriating bug showed up. Any help would be more than appreciated. This has caused possibly the most rage I've ever experienced with a computer. I've revamped so much of the game only to have it reset of I make one single edit after what I've already done. It even happens with new maps now too, so the editor is useless garbage on my computer as long as this problem persists. Thanks in advance.
It's hard to figure out what is going on without more detail. What type of map are you making and are you sure your map is making use of your edited units and not the default units? Does it get rid of your unit edits when you save your map?
2) Made the edits before HotS, and edited the wrong units (there's 2)
3) Added HotS dependancies, including HotS unit stats
If I'm right, you've messed up and the only way around it is to either remove the HotS dependancy, or re-do all edits.
For future reference, you're doing it wrong. Don't edit units. Make new units, and set the unit's parent to the unit you want to copy. You'll constantly have your problem occur every new patch if you don't.
Thanks again for the replies. It is only in the gameplay when I test it out (after having made a change to the map, otherwise it will load them just as I edited them) that I have the problem. They all revert in the gameplay, then go back to what I edited them to when I return to map editor. It's almost as though the game part of sc has filtered out my edits if I make any further changes to my map in its current state. I am 100% sure that it makes use of my edits if I make no changes. If I load it up without making any changes and then test it, the units will be as I edited them (larger thor and battlecruiser, Protoss shield on raynor and a lot more). But as I said, the problem occurs if I make even one change to the map since the saved game original that I made a week ago. I tried deleting just one unit after loading it up, and when I test it out, all of tue units revert back to original sc2 And the map is just a blank map I started from scratch, four ai players are present. If you need other info, let me know.

This would be a very plausible explanation, but I started the map right after the hots update. Please note: I do not have hots, I just mean the update where it said hots is live. I don't think I added a hots dependency, as I have no access to anything that it has to offer. I did add the dependency for the wings campaign, however, and I'm certain that when I made the edit, it made a separate copy of each unit I edited for my map. Although, I didn't specifically do it myself, it happened automatically. Do you think this could be the problem?
What seems to be happenning is when I make any map change and go to test, it will disregard my units and revert to parent during the test. It makes no sense to me why it would work ONLY if I make no changes to my map since my last save, considering I started right after the update). Another thing to note would be that I do most of my play offline, but I did try it online with the same results. And another thing to note would be that I first noticed the issue when I apparently made an edit to raynor and put his minimum health as being higher than the maximum by accident. I realized this mistake, fixed it, and it went back to normal in my tests, but there dont seem to be any errors I made since. This was when I was halfway into my maps current state, but it seems I have hit a brick wall of this issue since with no similar reason to point to.
Eiviyn's theory seems likely here. It is best to learn to make units from scratch but if you don't want to go through the trouble you should do what Eiviyn suggests. Make a new unit then set the unit parent to the unit you wanted copied. When you copy units in the editor all manner of problems can occur.
It takes some time learning how to make units from scratch but once you learn it the possibilities you open are just so much greater. I recommend looking at some of the tutorials. Basically there are 3 main components for making a simple unit. Make a unit in the unit tab, link that unit with a unit actor, and linking that unit actor with a model. You can link the 3 together easily by having them all the exact same name but it's best to learn how to link them without having the same name. Like I said I suggest you look up some tutorials. Afterward you can learn to add custom abilities/behaviors/attachments and other things if you want.
@Imperfect1987: Go You really dont need to follow Eivyin's "extreme" solution to your problem. It was probably something like the melee option in Map Options
or something like that. You can edit units if you know what you're doing.

This.
Same thing I always say to people. If you make a unit from scratch, you're understanding will be tenfold.

I bet you:
1) Started your map before HotS
2) Made the edits before HotS, and edited the wrong units (there's 2)

Thanks! How is it I go about making a new unit? Is it very difficult/time consuming?
