So I really want to have a custom UI for my map and my original plan was to just overlay an image much like streamers do, but I figured there would be problems doing this for different resolutions, 16:9, 4:3, etc. Is there an easy way to do this using an image file or do I have to use a model file like Blizzard does?
if you want something like the bottom console, ranging from left to right, that's only possible with UI-layouts, triggers only know fullscreen or fixed size.

@w00bz: Go
You can create fullscreen dialogs/dialog items via script (triggers) or anchor dialog items to top/left/right/bottom (or corners).
Alternatively you can add a layout file that overwrites the default UI.
