I'd like to ask about the way to attach a model into the unit model dialog.
In this picture, there's an Alexstrasza on center, and it's rendered by 'unit model' dialog item.
I want to give her a weapon model (such as swords, axes, etc).
So I tried to call the 'Send Actor Message' for using 'Create' or 'Attach' message, and also tried 'Attach model to actor'.
None of these worked lol.
Is there an any way to attach a model into unit in the unit model dialog?
Send actor message to actor (actor from dialog item).
I know that works. (Did it the other day) However note that you have to wait at least 2 secs between sending actor messages and creation of the item and it may or may not work. It's really random, my advice is to leave it as it is.
Thanks for your kind reply, but couldn't solve this problem.
I tried to send both 'attach' and 'create' method after 3 seconds wait to create the axe model actor.
But 'create' message does nothing, and 'attach' made an error(It seemed like - Can't disassemble the actor from the reference name [actor ID] : This maybe wrong because I translated an error written in Korean).
Actor - Send message "Attach GarroshAxe AMFilterWeaponRight" to actor (Actor for [Dialog] Character Selection.Hero Unit Model[0][(Triggering player)]) << This is what made actor error
Sorry, distracted my self a few times before getting back to this (i'm good at that). It appears that using the attach message doesn't work, but the modelswap method does, hmm.
It seems like you can only have one instance of an actor inside a unit model dialog
I apologize for leading you on, and giving you false hope.
I'm gonna play around with it a bit more, but don't expect any real progress.

When are you using the action? Is it proper usage of triggering player for the event?
You might need to hide the dialog item while you send and load the actor message.

Event
Dialog - Any Dialog Item is used by Player Any Player with event type Clicked
Action
Dialog - Hide [Dialog] Character Selection.Hero Unit Model[0][(Triggering player)] for (Player group((Triggering player)))
General - Wait 3.0 Game Time seconds
Actor - Send message "Attach GarroshAxe AMFilterWeaponRight" to actor (Actor for [Dialog] Character Selection.Hero Unit Model[0][(Triggering player)])
Dialog - Show [Dialog] Character Selection.Hero Unit Model[0][(Triggering player)] for (Player group((Triggering player)))
I thought I did proper action, but it still made an error... hmm
You need a wait after sending the message. I'd post an example but I'm away from my computer for the weekend.

That causes no error, but there's no effect yet =(
Thanks! I'm looking forward your kind tip.

Yes, Modelswap just works fine. WTF?
%1 message: Cannot resolve actor from ref name %2.
This is correct error message, but I can't find any informations about that. Anyone know about this?
Modelswap message was something I had done before and I thought if it worked all of them would work, sorry bout that
From what i've tested it seems like that error refers to selecting from actor type actor within attach message and.
Also of notable interest is that for the attach model message if you refer to a model type actor, it produces no error message, but nothing happens.
Edit: I also think that if you sent a scale message or tint or color, it would work, haven't tested yet though.

solved. Almost killed myself, and the answer was not on the Unit model dialog. Now I can get some long sleep...
