I've been trying to move the command card tooltip, because when I move the command card buttons and hide the UI art, the tooltip for the command card buttons stays in the same place. which looks very, very bad.
Ideally, I'd move it to a more suitable location, but it doesn't seem to respond to standard dialog hookup, or at least any of the configurations I could think of. The next best thing would be to hide it, but even setting the tooltips of the button to be blank still doesn't work, as it shows a blank tooltip (it just looks like a line).
If anyone knows anything about moving or hiding the tooltip for command card buttons, it would help! Thanks.
Did you get that to work? I've tried it but couldn't get a new commandtooltip to function properly. The most I got was an always visible tooltip with resource icons on it and no text. (That was when I created it as a panel - creating it as a dialog item tooltip gave an error)

Yeah the CommandTooltip has some unusual behaviour, like it's parent is actually an unnamed "CLayer" instead of the CommandPanel.
I had trouble moving it too, but I have now found a way (to move it dynamically with triggers).
You can't hook it up directly, but by attaching it to another element, you can move that element around as you wish and the tooltip will follow.
For example, to attach it to the top of the command card panel, add a layout in the UI editor with the following markup:
Then you can move the CommandPanel around and the CommandTooltip will move with it.
If you want the tooltip to be independent of the command card, you could create a new frame and anchor it to that instead, then move that frame.
or hide the default tooltip and create a new dialog with the commandtooltiptemplate.
