I manage an arcade map that is similar to melee 1v1 but uses triggers to spawn each player. Up until now I've only used 1v1 maps and would simply spawn Player 1 at 'Start Location 001' and Player 2 at 'Start Location 002'. I just used to the start locations already set in the map in those triggers. Now I want to expand to maps with more spawns but I want the players to spawn at random start locations for obvious reasons. For example I want to use this 3 spawn map Merry Go Round -> http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/images2/thumb/3/3a/Merry_Go_Round.jpg/578px-Merry_Go_Round.jpg
I am very new to the map editor so I am a bit clueless on how I would randomize their start locations using Triggers. Is there a smart way to go about this without spawning them on same location of course?
Something like what I've attached should work. Since you've done 1v1 maps, I'll assume you know how to get them the right race and stuff (I just gave everyone command centers :P)
Wow thank you for doing that. Is it bad that it is still gonna take hours to implement into my own map. It's not really a melee map it just spawns like a melee map.
Any chance you have skype? I can pay you for your time via PayPal.
Thanks, I'll try that and let you know if I have any trouble. The problem I see is I spawn players after some triggers are set. 8 players join the game and then it picks 2 to play and sets their spawn locations.
Set a variable to a random integer between 0 and 1. If 0, spawn <Contestant 1> at <Start Location 1> and then spawn <Contestant 2> at <Start Location 2>. If 1, Spawn <Contestant 1> at <Start Location 2> and <Contestant 2> at <Start Location 1>.

Thanks I got the random start locations working. Now I have a new problem though. This has never happened before in about 15 different melee maps I've applied my mod to. The workers do not start automining at the beginning of the game.
Does anyone know why this would happen? I didn't change anything I can think of that would cause them to not mine automatically anymore?

This is very simple in map options. deploy start locations and in player list set them all to random start locations. no triggers needed.

Here's what you can do post-initialization:
Set a variable to a random integer between 0 and 1. If 0, spawn <Contestant 1> at <Start Location 1> and then spawn <Contestant 2> at <Start Location 2>. If 1, Spawn <Contestant 1> at <Start Location 2> and <Contestant 2> at <Start Location 1>.
In psuedocode it might look something like this:
