so I've allowed burrow for hostile player 15, I made a region holding my burrowing units and said:
I want to burrow lings, hydras, and roaches
On map initialization
Wait .5 seconds (just so burrow can be enabled)
Pick all units in region and
Issue order - burrow (zergling),(hydra),(roach)
Shouldn't this work? The units I have placed are the unburrowed regular units, untouched in the data editor, yet with what I have, when i run the map, the units are still a standing ;(
Please help
that should at least get some of the units to burrow. If none of them do theres something wrong with the order your giving. Or the units cant currently burrow, due something wrong with the units burrow settings.
Can you order your units to burrow with your mouse?

try burrowing them on 0 seconds game time elapsed. THe melee initialization trigger happens *before* the game actually starts (its when your loading bar is either halfway or three quarters loaded, depending whether you have high models enabled. Its the part where it stops loading and waits for other people to reach the half/three quarter mark before continuing) this might be the reason.
Also, if theyre already placed by the editor, why dont you just place them burrowed?
So what they are doing is burrowing on map startup, and then unburrowing themselves :( I just want them to stay burrowed until enemy units (the heroes) come near... then unburrow themselves and attack
I posted it in another topic where someone wanted to make his units trigger the whole thing when entering a region, and it works. You need to revert the effect (burrow instead of unburrow), but it should work exactly the same way. Instead of checking for someone entering a region, just execute the trigger with Map Initialisation.
Since your problem seems not to be the burrow order itself, it might be one of these:
-you have left the default "Melee Initialisation" trigger intact. Which may cause the owner of the units (whether it be Hostile or any AI) to unburrow them as soon as they are ordered to burrow, to keep them available for attacks. Remove any trigger executing AI behaviors if needed.
-you have units close to the burrowing units that are in another faction (ie. they are considered as enemies). Try putting the units you want to burrow away from any threat they might be willing to attack.
-you have another trigger/action in conflict with the one executing of the burrow order. Which may cause the trigger to work fine, but some other trigger executed slightly later might replace the order and unburrow them.
