I am building a custom dialog system. I am simply recreating many dialog functions for just ONE added extra feature. I will have a "Enable Advanced Dialog" trigger. What this will do is allow you to get mouse events over a dialog. This is to include "dialog click" and "mouse click" events.
The main use of this dialog is to get right-clicks and left-clicks over dialogs that are not normally picked up by events. This way you can create a totally user-friendly custom interface with a drag and drop system most players are already used to.
The reason I ask if the community would use this, is because creating it to my personal specifications for my project is extremely simple. However, if there are a lot of people in need of this system, I can make it for the community where you can simply "Enable Advanced Dialog" through a trigger with no script editing.
The only reason I do not do this is that it is extremely laggy over BNet, from what I remember. If it is not too laggy, there is no harm in making a generic library for yourself and others.
Well, the reason I ask is in WC3 I used to make lots of functions/libraries that never got used. And I'm seeing the same similar pattern in SC2 with other people's content. I haven't been keeping up with sc2mapster and the projects ppl are working on, so I was just seeing if anyone ever encountered needing a system like this or not. It's a lot more work getting the function to work on a more global scale, rather than just in my scope of work.
I don't see it useful for the drag&drop system (cause lag), however it could be useful for contextual right click menus.
BTW as a rule it's always better to do your functions in a way you can re-use them later or on different maps, make it the most general possible
Hey guys, working on this system slowly but surely. Question for some of you out there. Do any of you use the "Edit Value" property for a dialog button? Thanks.
EDIT: Because this system will be using edit value of all "advanced" dialog items.
Please vote yes if you would ACTUALLY use this.

That sounds really useful, so yes.
<.< Not sure who would vote "no" for this kind of question.
"Want me to make something that is possibly useful to you for free?"
"NO! I HATE OPPORTUNITY"
I would imagine this being semi-usefull.
The only problem is it wont be as good as using normal inventory in terms of functionality, but if you can look past that, it will be super useful.
So dunno :D
