I'm really trying to wrap my head round the trigger system in the galaxy editor. I made a Tic Tac Toe map in StarCraft back in 2000 and it really helped me with the editor. I've completed the map except for the triggers. I used switches before when I made my other map but I cannot find switches in the trigger system and there doesn't seem to be the amount of conditions that were in the other editor. If someone could direct me to the type of trigger help I need, I am not really sure what to search for, the help would be greatly appreciated.
Also attached an in-game pic of what it looks like currently (the X and O were created with triggers)
Is it possible to change the minimap to reflect that there is an X or an O instead of the default box?
If you want my opinion on this, in regards to the minimap. Nuke the whole default UI and bring up a small dialog button for placing your X or O. That will clear up a lot of the screen and you can just have the camera set to focus on the center of the board so the whole thing is like a giant minimap.
I do like that idea, but its also fun moving around choosing your squares, still gives it a starcraft feel. After I finish this way I think I'll try to implement that way as an option so the players can have a choice in the way they want to play.
Oh no, totally keep that. The button is only to activate the unit's ability, if that's how those are being placed. If they're being placed by unit enters region than the button is not necessary.
SOLVED, the problem was I checked defines default value when I created the global variables
I am still having an issue, maybe posting a picture can show what I am trying to do. I am real sorry for bugging everyone. This new editor is way more confusing then the old one, but I am glad that it is more powerful.
The picture tries to explain what is going wrong. Please ask me any questions if you don't know what I am trying to do. Also if you want me to upload the map I can do that. Thanks for all the help!
I have a new issue. I have most of the map set up, haven't done the leader board or the board win triggers. I am stuck on the board win triggers because I want the game to be able to continue after a game is played, but I do not know how to get rid of the Xs and Os on the board. I also wanted to do some sort of cool effect on them like shrink the losing letters and make them explode and spin the winning letters if it is possible.
If I could at least kill them off I can finish the map without any effects and let people test it. Thanks for any help!!
Here is a pic of my triggers (where I am stuck) I don't know what to kill or how to do it.
Here is the new angle on my map, its a little closer. All creation triggers work, first player to go is chosen randomly and they are given O.
Got the kill thing down, now I have 2 broken things to fix before I can release the map (really close to being done now :D)
First is the scoreboard, having issues showing who's turn it is on the scoreboard and a couple other things (I think I can fix this on my own)
The second part is A round win trigger that I have that is supposed to check and see if player 1 is O and if O Win = True or if player 1 is X and if X Win = True. It seems to be broken somewhere. Here is what it shows as (sorry I'm not sure how to format the text properly in the post):
Fixed by splitting into two triggers

Switches? ... Yeah, we call those boolean variables now. Just make a local variable of type boolean and set it to the other value when you need to.
Okay I'm playing with the variables and I'm having issues figuring out how to use them properly.
This is what I am trying to do:
If Reaper (P1) enters region BL
and BL is False (boolean)
then unit create X at center of BL and set BL True (boolean)
another weird issue i found is that if the region touches the cliff it doesn't register the unit entering it (kinda weird)
All right, for that you'd want to do:
Event: Unit Enters/Leaves Region Condition: Comparison (BL = False)
That'll cause it to trigger properly. I'm not sure what you mean with what you're actually trying to accomplish.
@Sceptilesolarbeam: Go
i want it only to put an x if the trigger is false so it doesn't place an x every time that player enters.
How do I set the variables initially (I want to start with them false) and how do I set it to go true after that trigger you posted is ran?
Thanks a ton for this help, you rock!!
